Man this was a long time coming.

After a week of reflecting on our first-ever Non-Superficial BS Conference, I’m still not sure I have the words for it. But I do know that the most fulfilling thing was seeing it all finally come together.

If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you know I never claim that my work, or anything we do at Art of Coaching, is “perfect.” And to be frank, that’s not the goal.

But I’ll be damned if we don’t bring people together, make them think, make them laugh, make them confront things they otherwise wouldn’t, and help them grow and adapt—all while they help us do the same in return.

There’s no way I could capture that entire weekend in a set of photos or fully express the appreciation I have for everyone who was part of it.

But I know this: This was two years of trying to get this building done.

Ten years of a dream coming together. And in a couple of months, it all culminates with the official release of my new book, #TheAntiheroAdvantage

None of it came easily. There were more fights, setbacks, and moments of doubt along the way than I could ever adequately explain.

The lyrics of the song in this post was on repeat in my brain during the hardest months…”Not done fighting…I don’t feel I’ve lost…”

It was one battle after another.

But getting to bring all these people together, learn from some incredible speakers, and have my son there to experience even a small part of it made the whole thing that much more meaningful. And worth it.

‼️😈This weekend embodied what it means to be an antihero and a misfit. Someone who wants to do good but has a little chaos in them. Someone who wants to learn how to leverage their flaws, doubts, fears, and demons—all in the service of good.😈🏴‍☠️

What higher calling is there?

We’re all going to go through shit in life, and we need more pragmatic people and resources to help us overcome it.

That’s what our work is about.

When you read the final chapter of my book you’ll have a new definition of the word “RISE.”

Like the lyrics say- “is there more like us?” I hope so.

Thank you to everyone who was a part of this dream. And even to those who were part of the nightmare.

What a weekend in Phoenix. @coach_brettb and his @aocoaching No BS Conference was amazing! Best conference I’ve ever attended. I got to finally meet someone I’ve admired in the fitness industry for a long time, @jenwiderstrom. Jen’s talk was as powerful a talk as I’ve ever seen and the vulnerability she showed was empowering. And of course, seeing one of my best friends and coach @kessakuyper was another highlight!

There’s no shortage of conferences telling you what you should think.

This one is different.

What you see here is just a sampling of some of the topics we're going to be covering.

We want to be very clear: this is for people who are at a point in their life and their career where they want to learn more about how people navigated certain aspects of their business, their family life, and their changing identity as a professional.

It is open to absolutely every profession because everything we're going to talk about is translatable to every profession.

Whether you're an entrepreneur, whether you work as part of a larger company, whether you have kids, whether you're single, whether you're trying to advance in your career or you're still trying to figure out if you want to switch careers, there are going to be topics related to all of that.

Chances are, you know at least one person who’s been “thinking about writing a book” for years.

✅They’ve got notes everywhere.

✅ Ideas stuck in their head.

✅ But zero follow-through…yet

Not because they’re lazy. But because keeping it unfinished lets them avoid the truth: they either don’t believe in it enough to commit, or they don’t believe in themselves enough to see it through.

I’m running a small Writer’s Workshop for people who are tired of carrying unfinished ideas around and want a chance to finally make some more progress.

I couldn’t think of a more perfect reason as to why you should get to @aocoaching Speaker School or Writer’s Workshop this year 👀👀

You’re never NOT going to be busy or have other obligations.

You WILL regret not sharing or shipping something that’s been burning inside of you your whole life and creeping up in the back of your mind.

Share your story, share your knowledge, give others a chance to learn from you.

But more importantly, give yourself a chance to see what you can actually create if you give your idea the time, energy and effort it deserves.

It’s not about “perfect,” it’s about putting it out there and not having regrets.

There will always be more work to do, more emails to answer and more fires to put out.

There won’t always be more time or opportunities to share what you know in a way that can have a lasting impact.

Just sayin’ 🤷🏻
