How many little moments of joy are you missing because you’re waiting for the right time?

We’ve lived in our building for almost six years, and there’s a little outdoor space out back that we’ve barely used.

Not because we didn’t want to, but because I always thought we’d go another day. Maybe when we had more time, or when we could make a proper afternoon of it.

And of course, that day never came.

recently, I’ve realized that some of the best moments don’t require a plan at all.

Sometimes you just need to put on some shoes, step outside, and enjoy what’s already right in front of you.

A little reminder that you don’t have to make a big occasion out of everything to make it special. ❤️

We have been conditioned to believe that traditional luxury fragrances, inspired by the fleeting moments of the elite clique of old-world master perfumers, captured everyone’s story. Notes of lavender in Provence, lily of the valley… just one side of the story.

I started Ourside because I believed scent is a language that everyone could understand, but few have the opportunity to speak. Ourside is our voice.

I’m not an industry insider or a renowned perfumer. I’m just someone passionate about sharing our stories through scent. Welcome to Ourside!

I told my story two ways above. Same facts, same 35 years, completely different lens.

The hard parts didn’t disappear in the second version. They’re still true.

So is everything that came after them: the healing, the business, the people I’ve gotten to serve.

None of that would have happened without the hard parts.

Every life has negatives and positives. We just decide which one we focus on. Where attention goes, energy flows.

I get to choose which story I lead with. So do you. <3

telling my story two ways reminded me that different doesn’t automatically mean wrong.

the second version doesn’t cancel the first. the hard parts still happened, and they still hurt. but they aren’t the only true things about our lives.

i’m making reframing a practice because i’m seeing how much the way we talk to ourselves shapes what we see. i want to recognize my own progress without needing it to look like someone else’s.

It’s crazy how the same life can sound completely different depending on how you tell the story.
For a long time, I looked at certain parts of my life as things that went wrong — things I wished had happened differently, things that made me feel like I was behind.
But telling my story from another perspective reminded me that two things can be true at once.
The hard parts were hard. I don’t have to pretend they weren’t. But they also taught me resilience, gave me perspective, and showed me just how much I’m capable of.
Maybe my life hasn’t followed the path I imagined.
Maybe it wasn’t supposed to.
Maybe I’m not behind at all. Maybe I’m just building my life differently. 🤍

Sometimes the most powerful rooms are the ones we create for ourselves. 🤎

I had the honor of opening my home for the FIRST TIMe to a few incredible visionaries, and motivational women for an intimate book club inspired by Emma Grede’s Start With Yourself.
A reminder that before we build the business, lead the team, show up for everyone else, and chase the next big thing… we have to remember to start with ourselves.

This wasn’t just a book club. It was a space to pause, reflect, share, and pour into one another. Plus we got a special call from @emmagrede that made this day extra magical.

Here’s to choosing ourselves, betting on ourselves, and remembering that everything starts within. ✨

all of these things can be true at the same time and it can be really daunting living with all these realities. There are days I’m able to shift my perspective and there are days I’m not. Watching @keta.bw reminded me to write everything down and really think of how I can reframe things when I’m feeling down but have the strength to shift my perspective. Grateful for the internet in moments like this!
