What an amazing launch night of the @luckychucks76 top floor, with karaoke 🎤 , digital archery 🏹 and bowls 🔵!

This is an amazing addition to what’s already a fantastic place and I had a blast - make sure to come down over the October half term or over the festive season!

On Friday we met the new Co-op store manager Kyle to discuss the ongoing improvements on the site at St John’s Road.

Having started in September, Kyle had been keen to meet with us to discuss how we can work together to communicate the improvements that are required on the site, while also showing us a number of actions that had been taken.

This includes the recent improvements to the path on the side of the site, as well as the trimming back of the hedges, the filling in of potholes in the car park and fixing the ceiling.

We are all aware that work is ongoing, but we are pleased that the local team are working hard to address these with their facilities team and our efforts so far have resulted in improvement of the site - we will continue to work hard for further improvements and look forward to working with Kyle to achieve this, and thank him for making the time to see us.

Photo dump from day 1 of @thegreenparty Conference.

What an amazing first day at my third Conference, with amazing sessions, fantastic speeches and meeting old and new friends!

The ‘What does it mean to be a man today?’ session was an eye opener into the multitude of challenges that men face in society and how we can look at addressing those, @greenpartyzack Leaders Speech was tremendous, the ‘When nature fails: the defence and security case for climate resilience’ talk gave another angle to why we need to invest in our readiness for the issues ahead, and it was brilliant to join the first @localgovassoc of Green Councillors reception since the group was set up. To end the day, Tunes in the Laines was a lot of fun!

Thank you to everyone I saw who made it an excellent first day of Conference! 💚

A contest to be the “Reformiest Reformers ever to Reform”?

Last night at NNC Full Council, we were asked to debate removing the Climate and Environment Emergency declaration - a move which, as we heard during the debate, won’t materially change how the Council operates.

I’m still struggling to understand the practical point of the motion, other than allowing Reform to claim that they’ve “cancelled the climate emergency”.

And the irony is that this summer, the effects of a changing climate actually delayed local democracy, when NNC had to postpone a Council meeting because of the high temperatures. That was an evening meeting - as someone who works in a role involving manual handling outside, I can tell you it was a lot hotter than that.

The climate emergency deserves real action, not gesture politics, and our communities need investment and resilience to deal with the challenges ahead.

That’s what I want to see from our Council: less political theatre, and more action that actually makes a difference.

This morning I’ve been speaking to ITV News about Reform’s proposal at tonight’s meeting.

This evening they plan to roll back the Climate Emergency declaration made by our council, following similar actions from a number of Reform councils.

Around 90% of UK councils have made this commitment, and it’s only Reform councils reneging on this - why?

Sadly this is real step backwards - and achieves absolutely nothing for local people.

We need leadership on such a serious topic, and with 4 in 5 people actively worried about climate change, this just shows Reform aren’t listening.

We need people who represent the interests of the local community, not those who only act in the interest of their donors.

The “debate” will take place tonight, and 29 members of the public registered to speak on this showing the strength of local feeling.

Farmers, businessmen, teachers, young people, lawyers, doctors - all people already being affected by climate change in North Northants, have asked to speak.

The meeting is at the Corby Cube today at 6pm.

Wow, what a fantastic day!

Thank you to everyone who bought, sold and otherwise took part in the Ise Lodge Garage Sale 2026 - the second one we’ve helped to organise.

This was a fantastic event where we didn’t just raise money for a good cause, the Ise Lodge Scout Group, or give people the chance to make a bit of money while having a clear-out. It was something so much more: neighbours walking around and meeting each other, people discovering places just around the corner from them that they hadn’t visited before, and everyone getting to see the community that makes up our estate.

A personal thank you too to everyone who stopped to speak to either of us about our work as your ward councillors. We’ve been honoured to serve as your representatives, and the positive feedback we received gives us the energy to keep trying to improve our area.

If you’d like to help us continue making a difference, please do get in touch!

And yes, we’re already looking at next year’s event! So please earmark Sunday 5th September 2027 for the next Ise Lodge Garage Sale.

We look forward to seeing you again then - and, hopefully, plenty of times before!
