Between 1982 and 1983, Akira Toriyama created this original hand-drawn and colored sketch for the logo designs of the Toriyama Akira Hozonkai and BIRD STUDIO. This time, I took a closer look at the original artwork under high magnification. The moment a pencil touches paper, graphite is pushed and spread into the fibers—and those traces are still there. Where each line begins and ends, where strokes overlap, where more pressure was applied, and even the minute traces left by pen and coloring materials all look completely different from what we can see with the naked eye. Following these tiny details, we can get a sense of how Toriyama formed each line and shape, and how an idea in his mind gradually developed into a design. With just a few lines, an idea begins to take shape. Then color is added, and the design comes together. Looking this closely at those traces feels almost like watching Toriyama’s distinctive ideas and artistic sensibility take physical form on the paper. The high magnification also revealed something that was almost impossible to see with the naked eye. In several areas where the yellow and black meet, minute traces of red can be seen. It is an intriguing detail that suggests another pen or coloring material may have been used in addition to the colors previously visible to the naked eye. At some moment between 1982 and 1983, Toriyama’s hand moved across this paper with pencil and pen, adding color and leaving these traces behind. That moment of creation has remained here like a time capsule, preserved on the paper for more than 40 years. Bleach Ep.326 A36 Douga of Kenpachi & Yachiru 《Original Creator & Manga Artist: Tite Kubo》 《Studio: Studio Pierrot》 《Episode Director: Kazuo Nogami》 《Storyboard Artists: Minoru Murao, Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, Yukari Takeuchi, Mitsuki Kosaka, and Yūri Ichinose》 《Series Director: Noriyuki Abe》 I've been sitting on this on for a bit. Being so busy with work, family and life. I haven't shown off a piece in a minute on here. Though I do look at the art quite often. Kenpachi has always been a favorite character of mine. Ever since he was first intorduced in the show to even now in 1000 year blood war. What a beast he is! A character I needed and wanted to have in my collection. When I started collecting animation art for Bleach. I had 3 goals in mind. Get genga/douga/layout of a hollowed ichigo, one of Genryusai Yamamoto and one of Kenpachi Zaraki. Happy to say I have attained said goal for my Bleach collection. Now to trade up/ upgrade to the next level. Being able to have pieces from these various shows is something on a different level. Always hunting for the next one until its done. Thank you to everyone in the animation community who show off their collections. Big thanks to the ones who make deals happen. #bleach #kenpachi #animeart #douga #originalart
