Some stories bloom long before we realize we’re living them 💜 when I was a young girl mi abuelito planted dahlia bulbs for me at my parents house, soon after that they became a constant in my life. Always chasing their blooms during their peak season and eventually they became part of my family forever. We named our first daughter Dahlia and our second daughter Amara after the dahlia variety- Miss Amara.

Porque Por Amara Dahlia?

Spoken aloud, “por amar a Dahlia” is for loving Dahlia but it also means the names of our daughters, Amara and Dahlia.

To me that means two meanings: a love for my children and a love worth passing on. My hope is that these toys become small seeds of culture and keep our stories blooming for generations to come. 💜 💜Mil gracias a @keyla.designs por capturar nuestro corazón tan perfectamente ✨

Growing up watching my parents build something of their own, I always knew this was the path for me. Now I’m living that dream🗺️

My journey has been about more than reconnecting with my roots: it’s about finding purpose through storytelling. I’m obsessed with people, culture, and the stories that make up the world. That curiosity is what fuel my creativity.

Every project I work on, I pour my heart and soul into. Because your story deserves to be told right.

This story is about more than how Cafecito started.
It's about why it means so much to us.

I lived in Mexico with my birth mother until I moved to Hawaii when I was five years old. Not long after, I entered foster care. As I moved through foster homes, shelters, and group homes, I lost more than my home. I lost my first language, my connection to my family, and much of my connection to my Mexican roots.
For a long time, I felt disconnected from a part of myself that I didn't know how to get back.

Years later, I was a single mom working two jobs—one as a special education teacher's assistant and the other as a baker. Porfirio was working long hours in another bakery. We worked hard, but there was very little time left for family or for ourselves.

After long days, we'd find ourselves asking the same question:
Why is it so hard to find authentic Mexican pan dulce, tamales, and café de olla in Washington?
Not because we were looking for something different.
Because we were looking for something familiar.
The flavors, traditions, and moments that remind you of home.

Then COVID changed everything.
After being laid off, I started making tamales from my home. At the same time, Porfirio was baking pan dulce from his own kitchen.
One day we looked at each other and thought,
"What if we built this together?"
That small idea became Cafecito.

But somewhere along the way, I realized Cafecito had become something much bigger than I ever imagined.
For me, it became a way to reconnect with the culture I had lost.
For us, it became a way to share the traditions that shaped us.
Because Mexican pan dulce has never been just bread.
It's the box you bring when you visit family.
It's the café de olla poured while stories are shared around the table.
It's slowing down long enough to connect with the people you love.
That's what cafecito time means to us.
And that's what we've always hoped to create for our community.
Whether our pastries remind you of home or introduce you to something new, we hope every visit leaves you feeling welcome.

If you've ever searched for a place that feels like home...
Welcome to Cafecito.

raw + simple is rooted in curiosity, access, and community.

What started as a search for better understanding has grown into something that will continue to evolve — through the products, the information shared, and the spaces created over time 🌱

There was a point where I was trying to better understand food and its impact on how we feel and function. The more I researched, the more overwhelming it became. It was hard to retain so much information at once, and even harder to know where to begin.

I remember wishing there was something I could return to — something that felt clear and not overloaded with information.

Kitchen Curiosity came from that desire. It’s not meant to cover everything, but to offer a place to begin 💙
