I’ve realised how much I enjoy shaping conversations like this.

Finding the thread, building a narrative around it, and then bringing different creative voices and perspectives into the conversation, without needing everyone to arrive at the same answer.

This week at @mandalaclub.sg , I had the pleasure of moderating a conversation with artists Carla Talopp and Tunku Khalsom, in collaboration with @artitudegaleria around their exhibition The Wealth of Nature.

We came at creativity through very different lenses — art, interiors, nature, craft, technology, ownership, even what happens to something we create once it leaves our hands.

And that, for me, is where it becomes interesting.

Design has never existed in one lane. Neither does art. The more we hear from people who see, make and experience the world differently, the richer our own perspective becomes.

Carla and Khalsom brought such distinct voices, stories and passion to the conversation. I loved finding the threads between them, asking the questions that could take us somewhere less expected, and then giving the conversation space to unfold.

I think I’m discovering that this is a part of design I love just as much as creating spaces: creating the conversation around them.

See it on your wall 💜💛💜 "Skullfly: Addicted to Purple Yellow” by Tunku Khalsom | A circular mixed-media composition featuring a large purple and electric blue butterfly superimposed over a human skull. The butterfly’s outstretched wings obscure much of the skull, while its teeth and lower jaw remain visible beneath. Layers of translucent colour in yellow, orange, purple, blue and soft pink create an abstract, painterly background, bringing together symbols of life, death and transformation.
