‼️SOS Cotacachi‼️
It’s heartbreaking to see how climate change and other environmental factors continue to disproportionately impact Indigenous communities.

Once again, we’re witnessing the devastating effects on Mamá Cotacachi, where these fires have now burned approximately 600 hectares, affecting not only the land, but also wildlife, ecosystems, and the surrounding communities.

And once again, communities are being left to face these crises with limited government support and resources. The lack of prioritization and funding for prevention, emergency response, and environmental protection forces Indigenous communities to take matters into our own hands protecting our territories, our homes, and our sacred land.

This is more than just a fire. It is the loss of land, biodiversity, and a part of a community’s living history.

Our communities shouldn’t have to carry this burden alone.

Mamá Cotacachi needs our support. Whether it’s through donations, sharing information, or amplifying the voices of those on the ground, every action matters.

There are memories that live beyond books.
They live in the hands that plant the chacra, in the river that has known generations of footsteps, in the plants whose names are remembered, in the stories told by the elders and in the voices of women gathered around the same fire.

In San Jacinto del Pindo, the Kuraka women gathered to speak, to listen and to look towards what is still to come.
They spoke as daughters, mothers, grandmothers, sisters, community leaders.

They carry the forest and the river,
The knowledge of medicinal plants.
The memory of their elders.
The stories of their mothers.
The dreams of their daughters.
Their authority grows from a place where memory and responsibility meet.

At the 3rd Assembly of Women of the Ancestral Community of San Jacinto del Pindo (december 2025), these voices gathered around one another, creating a space where knowledge could pass from one generation to the next and where the future could be imagined together.

A Kuraka knows that the territory is larger than the land beneath her feet.

It is the river that feeds the community.
The forest that remembers.
The language that gives a name to the world.

A seed.
A story.
A name.
A river.
A responsibility.

And when the time comes, another woman will take it in her hands.
And the memory will continue.

.

🚨MAMA COTACACHI WILDFIRE🚨

🔔[MUTUAL AID IS NOW CLOSED]

🔥 A wildfire has struck one of the most sacred mountains for our Kichwa community. Mama Cotacachi is on fire. In three days, over 600 hectares have been affected, and, as too often happens, it is Indigenous communities on the frontlines, fighting to protect the lands.

Mama Cotacachi is not just a sacred place. She is a source of water for the surrounding communities, their crops, and all of the animals that call the páramo home.

Community members from surrounding communities, along with firefighters and volunteers from all over Imbabura have been fighting these flames. But they need our support!

They need food, water, protective equipment, and emergency supplies.

@kichwacollective is raising funds to help with this community response. All donations will go directly to Indigenous organizations on the ground getting urgent supplies to people fighting this fire and who have been affected by this fire.

🌱 Today, we are launching our Emergency Fund Impact Report for the period of September–November 2025. This report is provided in gratitude—and for transparency—to everyone who supported this initiative in solidarity with our communities impacted during the 2025 national strike (paro).

🌱 Thanks to your generous support thus far, over 50 families and dozens of communities have been supported and shown that they are not alone in this struggle. The report details where the funds were allotted, our decision-making process, and shares a few messages of gratitude from folks who received your donations. This report will also live on our webpage and be updated as we continue this work.

❤️‍🩹 These past weeks have given us space and time to speak to community leaders and brigade leaders to clarify where the needs still lay. With over 400 injured, 38 in critical condition, 13 in active legal proceedings, and 3 killed, there is still much support needed.

On this #GivingTuesday 💙 we ask that you all continue to show your solidarity. As communities in Imbabura continue to heal from the devastating impacts of the paro in September–October 2025, your support has direct impact. By supporting, we can ensure that the memory of this paro is upheld, people’s sacrifices are honored, and we continue showing solidarity across borders in this long-term fight against global fascism and colonization. ✊🏽🌎🔥

Luis Henry Jacome still needs our support! ✊

Today, he, the other 11 compañeros, and Gina Cahuasqui are once again facing the courts in their ongoing trial. On October 24, after dialogue was established between Kichwa community leaders and the courts, 11 of the 12 Kichwa men detained during the protests were released. Gina Cahuasqui was also released shortly after her detention.

All of them were falsely charged with terrorism—charges that are now being reviewed by the courts. But Luis Henry’s case was mishandled from the beginning, and he remains imprisoned, now for 55 days. ⚖️

Luis Henry is innocent and the sole caretaker and provider for his elderly mother . We remain hopeful that his case will be heard and he will be freed. We remain hopeful that justice will prevail for him, for Gina, and the other compañeros.

¡Luis Henry Jacome todavía necesita nuestro apoyo! ✊

🌎✨ On the eve of Ecuador’s 2025 Consultation and Referendum, we in the migrant community ask ourselves: Why are we at the polls again? 🤔🗳️
A vote for ‘No’ is a vote for a legacy of struggles, disputes, contradictions, and many collective historical processes.

As a migrant community, we know very well the facts of an autocracy.

That is why we reject this false consultation and categorically reject a constitution in service of a government turned landowner.

📢WE ARE UNSTOPPABLE, ANOTHER WORLD IS POSSIBLE!🦋⛓️‍💥

Thank you to EVERYONE who came and spent the day with us at the Another World is Possible Summit! We appreciate every volunteer, panelist, cultural performer/artist, and our community members for making this beautiful day happen.

We learned many lessons today, but one that was highlighted by many was how interconnected our struggles are, and how important community and organization are at this time. It will take all of us to fight back against the attacks on our community—and we need to be organized to do it!

“Let’s build the world that we’ve dreamed of. One that’s rooted in dignity, solidarity, and the stubborn revolutionary belief that another world is not only possible…it is already on its way.” — Sergio Gonzales (Keynote speaker) 🦋
