WHO WANTS A JOB?

Thank you to the amazing @footlocker team from the West 34th Street store for coming out to HSFI to teach our students quick tips for job interview success. After the presentation, they were mobbed with students wanting to learn more about their summer jobs and after school opportunities.

🏆NEXT: New York Winner Spotlight — Brandon Alvarado on His Piece

Brandon Alvarado breaking down the craft behind his winning look.

His approach is minimalism with extreme attention to detail. Nothing loud, everything intentional. For this piece, Brandon built a wool blazer with a rayon lining, paired with a set of jeans, letting the construction and fabric choices do the talking instead of anything flashy.

That eye for craft didn’t come from nowhere. Brandon was sponsored by @kicknknowledge to enter the competition. The same opportunity where he first learned the craft of design and got the chance to travel to Japan. From there to a NEXT: New York win in Fashion!

Now he’s carrying that same precision into his residency with @artontheavenyc and the @journey_docuseries .

Simple on the surface. Deliberate in every stitch. That’s Brandon’s lane. 🔥

As part of his win, Brandon steps into a residency built in collaboration with @artontheavenyc and the Journey Docuseries @journey_docuseries creating new work as part of “The Journey,” a residency theme centered on fatherhood and the men who shape us.

Over the coming weeks, Brandon will develop a fashion piece rooted in that relationship!

To the schools, community organizations, and youth programs that believed in your students enough to encourage them to participate. Thank you for investing in the future of the arts. Your support is helping cultivate the next generation of artists, storytellers, and changemakers.

This wasn’t just an exhibition, it was a reminder of what happens when a community comes together to create opportunities for young creatives to be seen, celebrated, and empowered.

Congratulations to all of our participating artists. The future of art is bright, and this is only the beginning.

Until next year… 🎨🖤
