So happy to have been part of the 18th Telling Tales Festival 🤍📚

The weather was perfect, the kids had a blast, and I loved meeting so many wonderful people, including @kidlitclassroom ! And please look at the three sweetest girls with their author-signing fans. Absolutely adorable. 🥹✨

Getting to read The City of Jasmine and seeing people react to it will always be one of my favourite things. I never, ever take it for granted. 🤍

Thank you, @tellingtalesorg and all the incredible volunteers for putting together such a wonderful event. So grateful to have been a small part of it. ✨

Having run the #ForestofReading program for my second year in the role of #teacherlibrarian, I appreciate the amount of time and effort that teachers, librarians, and teacher-librarians put into it. This year I was a nominee and I truly love the many ways teaches try to engage their students in this program. Thank you Mrs. A. of @kidlitclassroom for such a wonderful display of your voting results which incorporates numeracy as well. It’s certainly given me some ideas 💡 for next year.

• @kidlitclassroom 🥳 Happy to (finally) present my school’s Forest of Reading bracket!

📚I’ve never run a Forest of Reading voting before, but the Blue Spruce nominated books were so fantastic that I wanted to share them with the students and have some fun with it! All the books were borrowed from my local library and grades 1-3 classes participated in the voting.

I set the bracket up on a long bulletin board in the hallway and each book cover displayed also had a written summary with it. When a book won, I moved the coloured cover image to the next bracket and left behind a black and white cover that was marked as ‘winner’.

🙌 But I certainly didn’t do this by myself! My whole class was involved in the process. Here’s how my students helped:

⭐️ They delivered the voting slips to classrooms
⭐️ They counted the votes
⭐️ They wrote book summaries
⭐️ They created ‘winner’ tags
⭐️ Two students worked together on the trophy

🎉Congratulations to the winner of our bracket, The Great Dinosaur Sleepover, and to all the incredible Blue Spruce nominees! In my eyes, all the books are winners because each book was a child’s favourite!

📕 Bannock in a Hammock

📕 The Beat of the Dragon Boat

📕 Fox and the Mystery Letter

📕 The Friendship Blanket

📕 The Girl Who Loved Poutine

📕 The Great Dinosaur Sleepover 🏆 winner!

📕 It’s Okay, Just Ask

📕 The Most Magnificent Team

📕 Patty Dreams

📕 The Weedflower 🏅 runner up!

Which book would you vote for??

instagram: peaceful solo moment in monet’s garden 🌸✨

reality: crowds, chaos, hard work, hustle, and a village of people helping me get here 😂

grateful for every single person who’s supported me online and offline — everyone who’s watched the videos, supported my work, shared kind words, or picked up the book. truly couldn’t have done any of this alone 🤍

wish i could tag every single person who’s been part of this journey. just know i appreciate you more than you know ✨

Hooray, it’s publication day for What Do You Call Your Mum? 🥳💛
The newest book in this beautiful series with @ashleighjbarton is officially out in the world, and I couldn’t be more excited. Huge love to the amazing dream team at @harperkidsau @harpercollinsaustralia @harpercollinsdesignstudio for bringing it to life.
This gorgeous addition to this wonderful series is a heart-warming celebration of all the ways we say “Mum”- from Okaasan in Japanese to Miimi in Gumbaynggirr, and so many more in between. It’s a joyful little journey across countries and cultures, filled with love letters to mums and families everywhere.
You can find it now in all good bookstores, I hope you love it as much as we do! 💕
