What a special evening with @brandicarlile and @cameronbcrowe - I even got to share a mutual admiration moment with Cameron regarding Larry Vallon. And Brandi and her fellow musicians always bring me to tears. ❤️

PARKER GALLERY:

Everybody Loves The Sunshine is a collaboration with Parker Gallery and their show, “Gerald Jackson: The Rooftop Paintings”, opening Friday June 12 from 600-800p and running through August 15 (Parker Gallery, 6700 Melrose). In the golden haze of an ’80s summer afternoon, high above the Bowery, outsider artist Gerald Jackson transformed his rooftop into a stage. With the still-new Twin Towers dominating the horizon behind him, the artist danced freely among the skylights and TV antennas, tripping the light fantastic. A collection of Gerald’s poetry will be published for the occasion in a limited edition zine, available exclusively at Parker Gallery and Zebulon.

SIGNED BOOK GIVEAWAY:

Comment and tag 2 friends and you’ll be entered to win a signed copy of Nabil Ayers’ autobiography, “My Life In The Sunshine”, a stirring memoir about family, music, legacy, and identity.

What an honor. What a privilege. What a ride.

Today, I graduate from @cornellmba!

I’m humbled, grateful, and excited to share that I’ve been named one of Poets & Quants’ 100 Best & Brightest MBAs: Class of 2026.

But what this means most to me is what it represents about the leader I have become due to those who have inspired and pave the way for me.

So little of who I am happened while at @cornelluniversity. So much more happened before that allowed me to fully embrace who I am, be firm with my “yes” and my “no,” and trust that every lesson I had already lived would carry me through my MBA experience.

I worked full-time, took classes that challenged me, was extremely involved, and never once opted for easy.

And through all of it, what carried me was #OneJohnson. People who want to see you win just as much as they want to win themselves.

I leave #Cornell more grounded, more decisive, and more certain than ever that the most powerful thing a leader can do is lead with empathy. It is not a style, to me it’s a commitment.

The next chapter is about taking everything I have built into spaces that inspire and bring people together at scale. First up, my next role at @fifaworldcup (soccer, my second love, hence “Messi” 😉), where I get to continue building on my passion for all things marketing and entertainment with the partnerships team.

So, yes, in the words of #Beyonce, keep putting in that work. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 #latinaswithmasters

The @cornellmba was never just about the degree, it was about betting on myself in a new way. ❤️ Graduation is in less than a month. I’m not sure I’ve fully processed it yet and maybe that’s the point. ✨ (But @karolg’s 2024 Woman of the Year @billboard speech sums up how I feel at the moment. #IYKYK)
