A new home for @atlasweightlifting and @outlawsnottingham Wrestling Club and a perfect new space for weightlifters and freestyle wrestlers 🥹🥹

Honestly this training facility is what Nottingham has needed for the longest time. Has been such a pleasure to spend some time with the teams this week and understand their vision for the clubs. A sense of supportive community and a real enthusiasm for developing athletic performance. Seeing athletes prep for international comps alongside kids and adults of all skills levels training hard together is exactly as it should be. The ASMR of shoes and bars hitting platforms and people hitting mats is unparalleled.

I’ll be opening my diary up at Atlas Nottingham on Saturdays, starting from the 22nd August, offering my Sports Therapy services all day and 1:1 PT/ coaching (Saturday after 2pm only) - all are welcome, even if you don’t train at the clubs. I’ll make a separate link for this diary and post it soon ☺️

Atlas Nottingham - NG3, just off Carlton Rd - 4 mins from Motorpoint Arena by car, loads of parking.

Recovery class is quickly becoming my favourite time of the week. Gentle movement and having a nice time, spines cracking, and working into all of the creaky corners of the body.

Thanks to T for reminding us of Ozzy’s anniversary, we opened class with Planet Caravan in tribute 🤘🏽🦇

Back felt so good after I had to have a little fun with it.

join us on Wednesday night at Downsignal HQ, Sherwood, Nottingham, NG5

recovery class 6.30pm - well chill - for people who are feeling a bit beat up by the work week, the gym or life and need to feel nicer in their bodies again - an hour of full body movement in loads of directions

resilience class 7.40pm - bit strengthier but still focussed on mobility - slightly harder work, whole body incl lots of core and glutes work to increase capacity and support us in training work and life 💪🏽

£12/class or £100/10 classes and you get VIP priority booking with this so you’ll never miss out on a class. DM for booking and payment link.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed whether directly or indirectly, I am so grateful and honestly it’s you lot, clients / team / gang gang who have carried me through this year. Thanks so much to everyone❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

Never thought we’d do all this in a year. This place is my dream. I would stop to contemplate some more but it’s Sunday afternoon and the work needs me 😂🥹🙌🏽

A fabulous fun night at @nebula.wrestling cyberpunk wrestling event. It’s like pantomime. Lots of chants but all very family friendly. Tuck shop for fizzy pop and crisp in the interval! 5 minutes from home and home by 9. Perfect! Thanks again @kil0_ren

You dont have to passively accept the state of your joints as “part of ageing” or “because I used to play rugby”. You can probably affect your pain and your outcomes and function way more than you think.

Yes even if you’ve got no cartilage
Yes even if you’ve got osteoarthritis
Yes even if you’ve got a disc bulge or a rotator cuff tear
Yes even if you have ligament, meniscus or labrum damage
Yes even if you’re hypermobile / have EDS
Yes even if you think you’ve “done the rehab already”

I’m not saying we are gonna guarantee “pain free” and “do anything you want forever” - but what if you could do more, build capacity, build resilience, feel better?

You have a knowledge gap, not a lack of grit and it is not just a sad inevitability of the march of time. Shout me and I can help you close it 💪🏽

So many of my clients present with shoulder dysfunction, arm, rotator cuff and pec issues but it rarely starts there. It often starts with our inability to share the load with our bigger muscles - due to immobility through thoracic spine/ribcage/sternum and/or the inability to cue the lats in certain patterns.

Now this client has resolved the thoracic mobility piece of the puzzle, we can work on activating and cueing the lats in pulling motions.

The stronger you are, the more you can use the relatively smaller muscles around the upper back, shoulder and arm to complete pull movements, which can lead to overload and long-term niggling shoulder dysfunction.

Learning to use your lats is a key piece of sharing the load among the bigger muscles that should be working when you pull. Also if you learn to access your lats more effectively the positive effect on all of your lifts is huge 🔥
