POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I've been head-down in making mode lately, but this little guy was too good not to share! This tumbler and more will be coming with me to @kilnceramicfair next weekend!

Decorated with native bucks lace made in my village, and carved wildlife observed in the very same village many years later!

See you soon, at Madison Mills, 31 Oct - 1 Nov!

once thrown and trimmed, the handle is securely attached, the cup dried slowly, and bisque fired. glazed in my own fake Shino (real Shino would need a wood firing) and fired to 1220. I love this glaze on this particular @valentineclays clay body- available here in the north east from @sedgefieldpottery - it has a warmth and biscuity earthiness that just gives effortless glamour to your capsule dressing-gown Autumn wardrobe. how much does this cup hold? enough for your drink. and when it’s empty, you can top it up. no ounces or mls provided, just the basics for a really classy tea party.
these cups, and their colleagues will be available at @kilnceramicfair later this month.
if you want to see how I throw these, I’ll link the reel, but Instagram says i won’t be able to do this after 28 October, so I’m afraid you’ll just have to scroll….

I will be bringing the Old Listener to the @kilnceramicfair on the 31st October and the 01st November 💜
"I feel it in the silence between the trees. I could take flight and leave this place, but an ancient wisdom tells me I must stay. I am meant to be here."

Ceramic basket with willow handle ~ my latest design and one that I’d had in the back of my mind for a long time. It’s been nice to revisit combining other materials with ceramics and play with willow again.

I’ll have a few of these with me in two weeks time at @kilnceramicfair

My inspiration starts with what happens inside the earth.
I’m fascinated by the way minerals form within rock - crystals gradually emerging from what initially appears to be chaos.
When I begin making crystalline ceramics, I start to see a connection between that process and what happens inside my kiln.
During firing, crystals grow within the glaze, creating patterns and formations that transform the surface of each piece.
It’s this combination of chemistry, heat and discovery that keeps me fascinated by crystalline glazing. I’ll be bringing my work to Kiln Ceramic Fair at Masson Mill, Matlock Bath, 31st October & 1st November #handmade #pottery #event

Something new for Chloris Ceramics.
This will be my first time at Kiln Ceramic Fair and I’m particularly looking forward to exhibiting at Masson Mill in Matlock Bath - a remarkable historic setting for a celebration of contemporary ceramics.
I’ll be bringing a selection of my crystalline glazed porcelain pieces, each individually made and fired to create those distinctive crystal formations.
I’m really looking forward to being part of this new ceramic event.

ok this is one of my favourites, and photographed on a Teesdale stone slate roof. the base is a nickel green satin glaze, flecks of red iron oxide. on the rim is a manganese cobalt black, which reacts in a magical way with the main green glaze. the intricate feathery detail of the way these glazes interact is something I haven’t quite managed to capture in the photo, but I will bring a couple of these to @kilnceramicfair in October. makes all those hundreds of test tiles worthwhile.
