I had a big break-up recently. It wasn’t with a person, but with a place. A place I had loved and invested in. A place that at times, had felt like home. But I’ve learned that places are like people. Some are just meant for chapters of your life, not forever. And knowing when to let go and move on is sometimes the hardest part.

Knowing when to Leave, now on Substack.

A tourist this morning snapped a photo of me mid morning routine. I have the same routine every morning on the island: walk down to town, freddo espresso, work, a quick swim before lunch, journal if I’m feeling extra ambitious.

Living between two places, between cultures, but creating a routine and sense of home wherever I go.

Five years ago I took a very pivotal trip to Hydra. This month I came back. Not for a vacation, not to visit, but to linger. A month spent on Hydra, working from a stone patio above the Saronic Sea, asking what it actually feels like to live somewhere instead of just pass through it.
I wrote a bit about my experience here, “The Move That’s Going to Change My Life” is up on Long Weekend’s Substack now — link in bio.

Know what’s attractive? People who read books 📚
The recently opened @hydrabookclub on the port is a curation of limited edition prints, exclusive products from local artists, beach reads, coffee table books and poetry. Come for a complimentary side of sassy commentary from owner @joshuaphickey who also writes and edits their annual Journal.

At the end of June every year, the international art community descends on Hydra for the annual opening of the @destefoundation exhibition space at the slaughterhouse.

It’s a week of art exhibitions and gallery openings, all night parties, live music, djs and movie screenings but the best part is the unexpected people you meet and the fashion that’s as diverse and creative as the art itself.

Hidden inside a row of restored 19th-century shophouses in Tanjong Pagar, the hotel feels less like a typical Singapore stay and more like stepping into another world entirely. The dark, moody interiors of lacquered black walls, gold accents and a mix of Chinese, Malay and European influences nod to Singapore’s trading port history.
