POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

On 1 October, we celebrated the opening of Skinfocus with an evening shared with colleagues, friends and some of the wonderful people who have shaped dermatology over the years.

From reminiscing about dermatology then and now, to hearing from inspiring speakers, it was an evening filled with stories, laughter, good food and even better company.

Thank you to everyone who joined us as we begin this next chapter. ✨

A special thank you to our sponsors, Rite-Aid, L’Oréal and Genop, for helping make the evening possible. Thank you also to @vidaloublooms for the stunning florals & decor!

The sunscreen aisle just got a lot more interesting. 🧴
Fresh off the @dermatologysocietyofsa annual congress: four brands, four completely different bets on what SPF should be:
☀️ @cerave_africa - wearable, no fuss, enjoyable extension of your routine
🎯 @heliocaresa Aktuva - targeted at chronic sun damage, additional protection for at risk consumer
💧 @avene - SPF that disappears into a slick fast routine
✨ @eucerin_sa -a serum sunscreen that respects oily skin

Swipe through 👉
The real takeaway? Sunscreen isn’t “solved.” It’s still evolving and that’s good news for anyone who’s ever skipped it because it felt wrong on their skin.

The best sunscreen is still the one you’ll actually wear every day and boy oh boy are we excited by the expanding options!

True performance isn’t luck, it’s formulation 🖤

Just like precision engineering pushes a Ferrari to perform under pressure, CE Ferulic is engineered to perform under real-world stress, neutralising free radicals before they cause damage, and setting up everything you layer after it to work better.

✨ 15% L-Ascorbic Acid
✨ 1% Vitamin E
✨ 0.5% Ferulic Acid

This isn’t a serum you add for good measure. It’s the one that makes the rest of your routine actually work!

Science meets execution. Every single day. 🏎️

When hair starts thinning, don’t just look at the hair. Go to the root.

Hormonal shifts can disrupt the hair growth cycle, contributing to follicular miniaturisation and progressive thinning.

That’s why the new Dercos Energy regime with Regen Boost technology takes a root-focused approach-revitalising the scalp and strengthening the hair fibre from the root to support density and resilience over time.

The result? +14,000 new hairs in 12 weeks.

Because when the root of the problem is the root… that’s where we need to start.

NB: not all hair loss is equal make sure you see your dermatologist to accurately diagnose and plan the best treatment for your hair ❤️

Your sunscreen may be protecting your patients from UV but what about the light that’s making their pigmentation worse?

HEVL can penetrate the skin and contribute to oxidative stress and pigment production which may make pigmentation harder to control.

So for pigmentation-prone patients, we think beyond SPF alone!

Anthelios Anti-Dark Spot combines broad-spectrum UV protection with Melasyl which not only targets hyperpigmentation but also protects against HEVL. This is sun protection but also skin management.

It took me seven years to become a dermatology registrar. Now, a few months into consultant life, that same nervous edge has returned a quiet, persistent thirst for more.

It confuses people, often. But perhaps it was never ambition at all. Perhaps it’s simply who you are meant to become.

Grateful for the ones who speak your name in rooms you’re not in, who push us toward our fullest potential, even when we can’t see it ourselves.

Stay curious. Stay attentive.
Even in the face of adversity head held high.
The stars are only ever a few leaps away ✨
