The St. George marathon was good to me today! I had a 5 min course PR. I finished with a 2:50 (6:31 average pace) and took 4th in my age group. I landed a 15th overall female finish! The St. George marathon had some amazing athletes here today! Congratulations to you all!

✨RACE RECAP✨

I had not signed up for the marathon until 2.5 weeks ago. I didn’t feel like I could commit to racing it this year because I have more on my plate than in the past. With coaching the Dixie Jetettes and managing my business Reach, and being a mom to 5, my running had not been a top priority on my list. My life looks different now and fitting solid running into my daily life has been tricky.

One of my best friends @scjolley had a goal to break 3 hours. She hired Emily @praxis_running and I did everything I could to help Chelsea hit her workouts. I did a lot of her workouts with her to help pace her. After doing many of her long runs with her, I figured why not do it too. I had done a lot of the training already. I can’t say that I trained diligently, but I can’t say that I didn’t train either. My training was just a lot of hit and miss and I just did what I felt I should since I have trained with Praxis for a solid year. I had a good idea of what I needed to do.

I officially signed up for the marathon 2 weeks ago. 12 days ago at Jetettes, as I was running with the team back up the gym, I sprained my ankle on a huge rock that was out of place. I was chatting with Jodi and not paying attention to my step. This was a major set back for me again. My ankle was huge, blue and I could barely walk on it for days. I wasn’t able to run much the last two weeks. My ankle is still sprained, but running doesn’t hurt it now in the healing process thankfully.🙏

I didn’t know if I could race, so I put little pressure and expectations on myself. My husband asked me last night as 11:00 as he got home from a work trip if I was running and I said yes. That’s how much of a last minute decision this was.
