Back in the 1900’s they use to give away New Cars for 1st place at the the big contests. It was awesome to see and the budgets were blessed. I wanted to do something for the up and comers so I called Brian Schaefer and asked him since the Pro’s win new cars now why don’t we give away used cars to the Am’s. He loved it, I loved it. Just for laughs we gave away my roommates car the first year and Colt Cannon won it. I put “Colt’s Joint” across the window and drove it up the Tampa pyramid. The next year we gave away Allen Russell’s car and painted “Caswell’s Whip” across the windshield. I don’t remember wearing a beanie in Florida ever but here’s the proof. Ed Templeton shot this photo and I’ve never seen it until today. Congrats Colt & Caswell. Love You Schaefer, Duren, Milligan, Russell and SPoT crew. Until ⚰️

#WCRP 80’s Babies • Vol.2

Let’s take a trip down memory lane, to the times when Popeyes gave us ashtrays in Kids meals. And, Big Grab Doritos were 69¢. Walk with me..

1)Pro Shop: long before skateboard shops, all looked like women’s clothing boutiques. there was the Pro Shop. If you’re cultured, you 100% know the difference.

2)Skateboard Tours: besides Red Bull, do teams even go on tour? Or, is everything a “film mission”? damn.. no wonder the shops are dying. yall don’t go pack em out like that no more.

3)Street 1/4: one of the most essential elements in skateboarding. why? you had to push. readjust your feet. trick. and, prepare for landing- all within 3 seconds.

4)@tonyhawk deck: if you owned a pink @tonyhawk board, you had some weird skateboard superpower. can’t truly explain it, but this is a fact.

5)@donhillsman2ogskateboarder: the answer to “who is the brother, Steve Steadham turned Pro?” Well, here your go.l Also, he made up that trick(Anti-Smith invert).

6)Elephant Key: Imagine being 6 miles from home. your trucks are viciously rattling loose. and, your homie pulls this tool out. what the hell was that big wrench, anyways?

7)Fred Smith: Alva boards, looked like the most awesomist guitar imaginable. look at the stain on the bad boy! yall ain’t ever getting nothing close to this, and it ain’t even debatable.

8)PVC coping: the mighty, mighty King Coper aka PVC. Not sure if metal was expensive, or what. but, I kinda miss the dangers of plastic coping on ramps.

9)Santa Cruz- Streets of Fire: GOAT video. Natas was already in 1993, as far as skating. dude did hurricanes, when people were barely grinding benches.

10)Curbs: I just wanted to share this photo of my lifelong friend, skateboard LEGEBD- Matt Gee. and, wish him a very Happy Birthday!

When your son is away at school, but surrounded by, and backed up by lifelong friends, it feels good. I am STOKED!! I am also interested in finally going to college and believe that The University of Tampa would fit me well. You know, Rodney Dangerfield style!! 😂 Have a great weekend, everyone!
