Opening April 21st at Third Space! Collective Light is a group exhibition of my Traditional Photography students' silver gelatin work. The last installment of my project, and possibly the most thematically significant piece, Self Portrait with Cropped Hair, is an homage to a Frida Kahlo painting of the same name. This painting inspired this whole project, and challenged how I interpret my own gender, and gender presentation. Frida has always been a huge inspiration to me, not only as a Mexican, but as a woman and an artist who dares to challenge gender roles and societal expectations. Without her influence, this project wouldn’t be what it is. I’d also like to say a big thank you to everyone who’s supported this project and showed love for my art. You make my world go round 🖤
