A friend on this trip said something that stuck with me: “imagine not knowing climbing exists, and just walking past these rocks without ever realizing the kind of adventure they hold.” 🪨

That really is the beauty of the sport. I honestly thought I was starting to lose my spark for it, at some point it just felt like something I did out of habit.

It’s been a couple of weeks, and I think I’m only really starting to process everything now, but looking back, that trip to Australia brought it all back for me.

Climbing with people who are so strong and passionate about the outdoors was incredibly motivating. Everyone was also just so kind, welcoming, and generous with their time, sharing beta, spotting, cheering you on, making space for you to try. There’s a real bond you build when you’re projecting together or supporting someone’s send, and I felt that right away.

I’m at that point where I just want to be good enough to climb harder outdoors. There’s so much to explore and so much more to learn. Being around climbers, especially women, who are older (I promise, it’s a compliment ♡) but still operating at an insane level really lit something in me.

I can’t fully explain how much that trip brought my love for climbing back. I think I just needed a different environment to see it again.

Also, big thanks to jon for bringing me out and showing me around. Even on your non-climbing days, you were carrying pads, moving things around, and helping me try stuff just so I could experience a bit of the Grampians.

Watching how you project, your patience, your drive, your work ethic, was something I really carried with me. I didn’t fully understand it before, but seeing it up close made me realize how much you put into every attempt, even when it doesn’t go your way. There’s something steady about the way you keep coming back to the same problems, and it made me want to approach climbing with that same kind of commitment.

I think what stayed with me most is how this trip gave me something I didn’t realize I was missing. It was the people, the energy, and the shared moments in between. I’m really grateful for all of it, and I can’t wait to go back ❣️

Vital Signs V10 FA

Venus Baths, Gariwerd

Quite the special one for me and very psyched to send this. I stumbled upon the boulder last year on a walk with Chris. It seemed very improbable as the holds disappeared to the lip. I wrote it off in my head but couldn’t shake it. It wasn’t until I came back and checked it out again that I saw what could be some usable holds so I cleaned the top, threw some pads down and tried some moves. The sequence I envisioned didn’t go, but after a few trips and many failed attempts, managed to find a path by moving up to the right side of the lip then traversing left to gain some good holds to top out.

Grade-wise I think it lands ~V10. It felt quite hard for me and I had to dig deep for the send, but it’s a power endurance block and I’m no endurance climber. Either way lmk how you go and happy to adjust for consensus 🤩

Thanks @kitten.fingers @climbingmartinez for too many days of hauling pads up, soloing some sketch terrain for vids, mega spotting and siqq sequencing. Thanks @angeloo0o0ooo @angie.ascends @matts_latts @nevernotdylan for send support, sequence and esp Dylan for building out banger landings 🤌🏽🙏🏽❤️
