My finished piece "Light on Thomas Creek" for the 2026 Fairport Plein Air Festival

When I arrived I realized I accidentally left the paper at home so I started late and frazzled. But I'm proud that I could recover and lock in!! It was so cool to see how people approached the same conditions and constraints. I'm definitely going to enter more plein air events!

Stolen pic from @stonypointartstudio 😄

Chalkboard wall doodles with @adipsia ! Our kitty Modig loves to bat at everything above his head and he'd probably bat at the stars if he thought he could reach them
.
.
Image description: a section of wall is framed and painted black with chalkboard paint and on it there is a silhouette of a cat leaping up to bat at a star in the night sky. There's a UFO in the sky and plants and creepy crawlies at the cat's feet

Oh my gosh this bunny was so tiny 😭😭
It is wild to me how animals just have to stash their babies somewhere and hope for the best. It gives me a lot of optimism about the world but also ahhh I'm worried about the tiny babiees!
I will have to make a painting of this little one A tiny baby rabbit, so round, sitting in some green plants on the ground.

In the midst of moving but still working on my pastels. I will be teaching pastel classes soon, with the first workshop(s) being cloud paintings!
Pastel is so fascinating to me. It's so difficult if you don't have the colors you need, but it's so much easier than other mediums when you do have the colors. Fully blending can be incredibly difficult, which is such a wild departure from my usual watercolor painting.
I love the luminous and powdery look of pastel though so it's all worth it

During the early pandemic I worked hard to find activities for the neighborhood children to do outdoors. I made a stash of goodies for them–notebooks, art supplies, snacks, comics, and sometimes we made things! One day we did ice dyeing, this day we hammered plants into napkins and hand towels. This one a child worked on and they got out some of their excess physical energy on the cloth and it broke apart. We kept working on it until it was full of expression and I later stitched it back together in mossy embroidery.

For weeks before this I tested all the plants in my yard to see what would dye well so this is after washing a few times and now it still looks great!

A practice sketch for a commission of an ocelot watercolor painting I did a while ago.
Did you know ocelots are native to the Americas and live in Texas and Arizona? They face great threats there and should be considered critically endangered in the US but the govt has determined them to be disposable.

I wish so much I could have seen this place before colonialism and capitalism. #LandBack

Modig is helping me work on my pastels! This is a sunset I saw while camping near Colorado National Monument

I'm planning out some pastel workshops for the future. If you like pretty cloud pictures you may be in luck 👀
Thank you for taking the cutest picture @adipsia

Image description: a white person's hand holds a framed pastel drawing of a sky, and a black cat sits next to the picture looking at the camera. The picture is at dusk and there are dark plants in the foreground at the bottom. The clouds are purple gray with yellow towards the horizon. The frame is white and gold

Thank you for the lovely photo @adipsia

Image description: me, a white femme with red hair, standing in an art gallery next to paintings. I am wearing chartreuse and lime green and an aura mask. My art is a very muted colored pencil drawing of me holding a black cat under a partly cloudy sky and in the midst of a sea of grass.

Sweet messages for visitors of the Delaware river

Image description: a metal utility box with graffiti on it, one is "a better world is possible" in white and blue with pink hearts. The next is another face of the box with some graffiti and stickers including one that says "trans people's joy enriches everyone" (municipal adhesives sticker). The third image is a view of a small bridge over the Delaware river. The fourth is a closer image of the "a better world is possible" with a blurry green and sky in the reflection of the box.
