Something is taking shape in the “studio” aka kitchen table… 👀✨

A little mystery, a little mischief, and a very exciting delivery of colour popped on my doorstep today.

I recently won a box of 50 (Yes I said 50!!!) Kiwi Underglazes after winning the “Kiwi Underglaze Best Use of Colour Award” at Mairangi Bay Members this month, so a huge shout-out and thank you to them!
Join the community Art Centre!!! 🙌🎨

I can’t wait to see where these colours take me… although I’m keeping the final result under wraps for now! As per Instructions

Eye colour reveal on a custom Suuqie before it’s clear glazed and fired!

While not completely fool-proof, spraying water on a bisque fired Suuqie helps to give an idea of the colours and more importantly any tiny spots missed when painting.

These eyes need a quick touch up and she’s ready for her final fire.

If you told me 10 years ago that I’d be making sculptures out of mud, I would’ve laughed at the thought. I always thought I didn’t have what it takes. I thought adulting was all about work and didn’t really have time to play. I was curious about art but never confident to try anything.

But, two-ish years ago everything changed. I found clay when I was dealing with a chronic illness. Having my partner love it as much as I did meant our date nights were spent at the studio. That’s where the magic happened.

It’s led to a world of bringing creatures that live in our minds to life. And I wouldn’t have had it any other way!

Come along for the ride if you enjoy this kind of whimsy! :)

The final stage of the colander project is complete! This project started with a 3d print and now we have a glazed ceramic product. It feels good when all the development of a project comes together at the end with something this functional and beautiful.

A few new pieces.

Sometimes you need to embrace colour. There’s no sage or beige here! Use as either decorative items or tableware and bring some good vibes into your everyday. 😎🍉🌈

💃 HAPPY DANCE! 💃

👣 SAD STOMP! 👣

Out of the kiln and I'm absolutely chuffed with the colours! 🐟🐠❤️💙

Then I spot a couple of wee cracks… 😭💔

Oh, the JOYS of ceramics!

One minute you're dancing around the kiln like you've won Lotto, the next you're muttering obscenities at a lump of clay. 🤬🤣

Ceramics giveth… and ceramics taketh away!

Still love the little buggers though! ❤️
