It was amazing catching Chixdiggit! at Buddies Fest II last weekend. It had to have been over 15 years since the last time I saw them live.
Bumped into KJ, who was kind enough to take the time to chat and sign my copy of their first album.

C’mon Sub Pop! Do these boys right, and re release this record as it is celebrating its 30th Anniversary

I helped sell their merch that night.
We went for wings at Leopolds Tavern afterwards.
The nicest punk band ever? Probably.

Thank you SO much to everyone that reached out today. Last summer they were planning my transition to palliative care and had me listed NPO, or nothing by mouth, and celebrated with a dixie cup of shitty ice chips.

This year, I spent the weekend going to see Chixdiggit, jammin with the band again, and going to wrestling with my Mom and Dad! I'm gonna top it off by eating a massive slice of this Danhausen cake. Thanks everybody! 🚀

HAPPY CANADA DAY! Hope you're dreaming of Mr. Dressup, while hiking a mountain with Chixdiggit's "Born on the First of July" in your headphones and CanCon in your heart ...

Photo (proudly stolen from) KJ Chix.

Thurs. Nov. 10, 2016 ~ I was working backstage for Rawk Entertainment at Chixdiggit's 25th anniversary show at The Exchange in Regina. After bartender (and fellow singer-songwriter) Artie Balkwill ran home to grab his acoustic guitar, KJ performed a few songs including "(I Feel Like) Gerry Cheevers (Stitch Marks on My Heart)".

Let's hear it for impromptu performances!

There's so many things that make The Gateway Festival in Bengough special.

For many years it was the fact that Calgary pop punk legends CHIXDIGGIT helped close out the event very late at night.

In 2019 however they played a surprise 5pm set.
It was so uncomfortably hot that day but they still gave it their all.

There's nothing quite like songs about your Mom, humping and Japanese dollar stores as a soundtrack for your supper.

SONG: Welcome to the Daiso
ALBUM: Pink Razors

Backstage at the 2022 Punk in Drublic Festival at the Edmonton Expo Centre with ~ Left to Right:

Stephen (The Descendents), Robbie, Billy & KJ (Chixdiggit) and Rob (Strung Out)

I was taking photos for the NOFX crew Instagram account. Eric Melvin showed up shortly after and didn't know how to get to the stage so I escorted him there.

Later on, I'd also meet Mr. Ben Disaster from The Real Sickies. We discussed (and eventually did) an episode of his radio show "This is Pop" on CJSR 88.5FM where we discussed polka songs from the past century that should've been Top 40 hits (like pop songs). Happy to share the setlist!

These are all great dudes who make great music!
Extra points to KJ for his rad Seth Anderson tee!
