Been too busy soaking up married life to post so here’s wedding week pt 1
13
Over the last two months, I have been needing to bring closure to my ten years away from Chicago. I’ve been working on putting all my pics into a folder based on the city, and planned to work backwards, but this 2016 trend is making me realize that I should start with move that started it all: HOUSTON TX!!! I’ve lived a lot of places, and people are surprised when I say Houston is my favorite city. My EQX River Oaks family, and my HTX friends helped make the city one of the best experiences I’ve EVER had in my life. I wish I had fully captured every moment to share with everyone. I’m certain that one day I’ll be back, but the memories from my time in HTX I will always hold dear to my heart. #choppedandscrewed FOREVER

Reconnecting with my roots

To the younger version of me, the one quietly doubting…

The one who felt a little lost.
Who was told to be quiet, to be good.
Who second-guessed herself constantly.
Who feared not failing, but what might happen if she actually went for it.

The one who kept signing up for training after training,
hoping the next one would finally make her feel ready.
The one who quietly feared the spotlight
not because she didn’t care,
but because she cared so much.

You didn’t want the spotlight.
You wanted to share something real.
You wanted to be of service, to offer what had changed your life.
You wanted to be seen - not for approval, but for who you truly were.
To be heard. To be understood.
But not many did back then,
so you walked the path alone for a while.

The imposter syndrome was loud.
You questioned your voice, your worth,
compared yourself to others with the big poses and the polished words.

You didn’t have that.
But you had heart.
You had presence.
You had a story.
And a deep desire to lead from truth.

And… you had mentors.
People who believed in you before you fully believed in yourself.
People who nudged you forward gently but firmly,
who reminded you:
You don’t need to be perfect to be impactful.

Now, more than 10 years in, here’s what I know for sure.
You don’t become a teacher overnight.
You grow into it—through time, through life, through showing up again and again.
But the truth is, the teacher was always there.
You just had to remember her.
And learn to trust her voice.

And as you grow, you realize:
You’re not just a yoga teacher.
You’re a space holder.
A guide.
A leader.
A creator of moments and experiences that can shift people from the inside out.

You shape lives through how you show up,
how you hold space,
and how you truly see, hear, and understand the people in front of you.

Even now, I’m still learning.
Still evolving.
Walking along aside others, not above them.

With love,
This version of me x
the one who no longer doubts her voice,
but honors you and every step it took to get here.
