All the way from New York, Curators Işın Önol (@isinonol) and Klaudia Ofwona Draber (@klaudiadraber) have travelled to EMMA - Espoo Museum of Modern Art (@emmamuseum), to talk about and reflect on the relationship between learning, curatorial thinking, exhibition-making practices, and the broader discourses surrounding the curatorial.

PUBLICS (@publicsfi) expands the activities of The Centre for Curatorial Thinking by co-hosting the second in a series of four annual, interrelated, and cooperative symposia—spanning Curatorial Thinking, Learning, Instituting, and Collaborating—and explores the importance of public discourse across Finland, the Nordic-Baltic region, and beyond.

“Out of Silence” is a large multichannel sound installation that was presented at Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms State Park from April 29 to June 21, 2026. Here is an 8 minute long excerpt of the piece.

I owe a great deal of gratitude to so many people who helped make possible, first and foremost, the curator Alina Girshovich @alina.grsh who invited me to join her this exciting journey.

To the Vox Clamantis vocal ensemble @voxclamantis.ee who not only lent their beautiful voices but also brought their own sensibilities to the piece - so thank you Jaan-Eik Tulve @jaaneik for guiding us through the workshops and recordings, and thank you to Taniel Kirikal, Aare Külama, Anna Mazurtšak, Anto Õnnis, Susanna Paabumets, Sander Pehk and Mari-Liis Urb for voicing the silence.

Thank you also to Tammo Sumera for recording us at the Arvo Pärt Centre, Kajsa Blom for the post-production, EMS Elktronmusikstudion Stockholm and Livewire Sound & Image for the technical implementation of the piece at the site.

I’m deeply grateful to Aga Sablinska @saga_of_aga who worked tirelessly to help us get the word out; and to Howard Axel and his team at Four Freedoms Park Conservancy @4freedomspark who believed in the project from the get-go and gave us access to this truly unique location.

“Out of Silence” was generously supported by the Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation; the Ministry of Culture of Estonia; the Saastamoinen Foundation; the Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland; the Finnish Cultural Institute in New York (FCINY); and the Consulate General of Finland in New York.

I also wish to thank @jaanika_peerna_studio , @k.a.t.i.l.a.a.k.s.o , @temnikovaaglo , @vitalibertee , @anssivallius , @klaudiadraber, @gundegalaivina , @hyperjetlag , @jonas___backman @seta_c_m Julia Giertz, Ellen Wettmark, the Embassy of Estonia in Washington, D.C. @arvopartcentre and @elektronmusikstudion_ems, who all contributed to the project in different ways - and to everyone else who helped make this project a reality.

I very much hope to have the chance to show it again someday.

Radgoszcz, thank you. ❤️

What a time. The 4th edition of Radgoszcz Centrum Music Fest is behind us, and I’m still carrying the sound, the faces and the atmosphere of those days with me.

Huge thanks to @klaudiadraber — for the support, the energy and for being there whenever it mattered.

To my parents (@ikonyirenowacje) and sisters (@eliza.dworak @gabosza_ ) — thank you for all the support, and for opening our family home to the artists. Everyone felt welcome there, and that kind of hospitality is something no stage can replace.

Thank you to @slawekpezda and @max.drum for being there and for the wonderful music you brought with you. You’ve become a permanent part of this festival, and it wouldn’t sound the same without you.

Thank you to the Gmina Radgoszcz for the patronage and support — for believing that this place deserves music like this.

Special thanks to Sławomir Pikul for the magical sounds — the guest performance with one of our workshop participants was a moment I won’t forget.

And @pikulove150 keeps developing. The place grows more beautiful every year and is slowly taking on its final shape — closer and closer to what we always imagined it could be.

See you at the 5th edition. 🎶
