POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Another long day! I was in the Lighthouse Restaurant at 6:15 and than 8:00 Mass at St. Henry’s Church (my usual Sunday morning). From there it was off to the Secaucus Rink for nephew Chase’s 9:30 Bayonne Badgers 14A hockey game. I got a photo with Cory Robinson, Ryan Klimkowski and Avery Galella (Danny’s daughter) who was there with her friend whose younger brother plays for the Badgers.

The King Cobras 16AA team played after them at 11:15 so I stayed to watch - a number of former players are on that team: Adam and Hudson along with Griffin (Xavier) and Brody. They lost a tough 2-1 game. My King Cobras 16A game followed them at 1:00. We were winning 2-0 after the 1st but we got complacent in the 2nd period and fell behind. We started a come-back in the 3rd but fell short. I finally was able to go home to get school work done - lesson plans and grading tests. I finished at 9:30 and going to head to bed now.

Chase Klimkowski is an exciting young baseball prospect who made a name for himself representing Bayonne Central Little League out of New Jersey at the 2026 Little League World Series. A right-handed pitcher who also contributes in the outfield and infield, Chase brings versatility and valuable experience to the field. His performance on the national stage showed his ability to compete against strong competition and deliver when his team needed him most.
One of Chase’s biggest highlights came against Pennsylvania at the Little League World Series, where he threw 5⅓ innings, allowed just one unearned run, and recorded six strikeouts without issuing a walk. His composure on the mound and ability to work through pressure situations helped lead New Jersey to a 3-1 victory.
Chase also played a key role in Bayonne’s historic run to Williamsport, helping his team earn its first-ever Little League World Series appearance. His experience competing on one of youth baseball’s biggest stages gives him a strong foundation to continue developing as a player. With experience pitching and playing multiple positions, Chase has shown that he can contribute in different ways and be a valuable piece of a team. As he continues to grow his game, he is a young player worth following in the years ahead.

I had a great and unforgettable summer doing what I love most playing baseball. First, I want to thank God for making my dreams come true and for walking with me through this amazing journey. To my coaches for everything they have done for the team and for me, thank you for just having faith and believing in us we would have gotten this far without you guys. To my teammates who became brothers to me, thank you for being my side and i’m so grateful for experiencing this moment with you guys. To my family, for coming to each and every one of my games from beginning to end. Even though I was out on the field, I would look up and see all of you sitting together with your posters and pictures of me, and it brought me so much joy. To my friends and coaches from travel baseball, thank you for coming out of your way to support me and experience this beautiful journey with me. It meant more than you know. To my hometown, BAYONNE Thank you for the unbelievable support you gave us. Seeing my teachers, neighbors, trainer, friends, and so many people from my community at every game, rooting for us and screaming my name every time I came up to bat, gave me an extra boost. I remember thinking, “I’m not letting my hometown down!” And finally, to my parents… Thank you for always being by my side, caring for me, and believing in me. You always made extra time to come see me whenever you could, just to make sure I was okay and to be there with me. I would not have been able to do any of this without you.
You are my backbone in everything I do, and I know you only want the best for me. I love you both more than words can explain. This summer gave me memories I will carry with me forever. I’m beyond grateful for everyone who was a part of this journey and helped me live out a dream I once only imagined.
Thank you, God. Thank you, family. Thank you, brothers. Thank you, coaches, and Thank you, BAYONNE. 🙏

A little late due to following rules….. NJ STATE CHAMPS!! 🏆⚾️

What a feeling winning the New Jersey State Championship with my Bayonne brothers! We worked for this, battled for each other, and never stopped believing. Proud to represent BAYONNE and the STATE OF NEW JERSEY! 💪🏽🏆

Now we’ve arrived at the EAST REGION METRO CHAMPIONSHIP! 📍⚾️

Another step in the journey. New stage. Same brothers. Same goal.

We’re grateful to be here, but we know the job isn’t done. Time to compete, have each other’s backs, and leave everything on the field.

One game at a time. One pitch at a time.

Bayonne ➡️ NJ STATE CHAMPS ➡️ EAST REGION METRO 🔥

The road continues… WILLIAMSPORT is the dream. 💭⚾️

Well, sadly, Bayonne’s All-Stars amazing run, that started back in July, came to an end last night. After losing to Iowa on Sunday, they dropped to the losers bracket. Facing elimination against Ohio, their 6th inning rally fell short 5-2 ending their season at 15-2. It was a great run - Districts in Secaucus, Sectionals in Rutherford, States in Cresskill, Regionals in Bristol and now the Little League World Series in Williamsport.

It was amazing how everyone, not just Bayonne, but all over the state got behind Bayonne. So many people wearing “Bayonne vs Everyone” shirts. This will be a summer to remember. Chase and the boys will forget last nights game but will always remember what they did this summer!

My nephew Chase Klimkowski pitched the game that we all knew he could - on the biggest stage of his life. He threw 5.1 innings awesome innings, holding West Chester, Pennsylvania to six hits and only one unearned run while striking out six. Bayonne scored two in the bottom of the 2nd, AJ Tapia and Joey Dwyer both doubled (both went 2 for 2). Mason Rincon added another blast over the outfield fence to make it 3-0. West Chester scored in the 5th to make it 3-1. That was as close as they came as Chase shut them down - striking out two more over the last two innings. Bayonne is now 15-0 and will play the Midwest champion Davenport, Iowa on Sunday at 1:00.

Chase is a very determined kid when he sets out to do something. He came on one of my epic Manhattan walks last summer and out walked me - he wanted to set a new record. We came close walking around 16 miles but ran out of time (he had to get back for Little League pictures). I had trouble keeping up with him.

After the game, I had to find my car out in the field and drive two and a half hours back to Hatfield, Pennsylvania. My King Cobras 16A team is in a hockey tournament - I drove to Williamsport after our first game. We have our second game at 8:25 this morning.

This is more first trip to the Little League World Series in Williamsport. I’m here to root on nephew Chase and the Bayonne Little League All-Stars in the first game against Massachusetts (Bridgewater). I watched the end of the Nicaragua 2-1 win over Dominican Republic. I also sat on the outfield grass and watched Tacoma, Washington defeat Alabama 2-0 in extra innings (the girl on their team shut Tacoma down for 6 innings).

Than at 7:00, it was time for the game that all of Bayonne came to watch (four buses of fans drove out from Bayonne) - Bayonne vs Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Bayonne scored a run in the bottom of the first before Massachusetts tied it with a solo homerun in the 3rd. The game was full of defense. In the top of the 4th, Chase scooped up a single and fired a bullet to second base that cut down the runner advancing. The diving catch made by the Massachusetts left-fielder Anthony Sullivan in the bottom of the 4th was spectacular. Than there was Bayonne’s double play in the top of the 5th - Rincon to Feliz to Anaya - that was phenomenal.

Of course, by now everyone has seen Bayonne’s Mason Rincon’s walk-off homerun in the bottom of the 6th to win the game 2-1. Bayonne All-Stars remain undefeated at 14-0. They take on West Chester, Pennsylvania on Friday at 7pm.

My friend and former student Tom Mongiello and his two sons Jacob and Joseph drove out with me. After the game, we hit the local Sheetz for a 24oz coffee for the over three hour ride home (before anyone asks - all of Dunkin Donuts were closed). I got in at 2:10 in the morning.
