The number one book in America is not mythical fiction or political scandal. There is no lore. No salacious gossip.

The number one book in America is about the unfiltered Gospel, drawing from the Book of Jude to encourage readers to boldly proclaim their Faith with love.

And the person who wrote this book is exactly who he is online and offline: a man of God who cares deeply about the Church. His convictions are evident in his concern for people and their relationship with Christ.

In playing a part in this book, I gained a friend. This friendship led me to realize something that has changed my life: writing is what I do, but not who I am.

Today, I hope the most interesting thing about me is my heart for Christ. That I said something or did something that made you want to know Jesus. That although I am a sinner ten thousand times over, I am forgiven. That I am neither my worst decision nor my greatest achievement, but a child of God.

@philipamitchell, you did your big one with this book. May “Contend” inspire people across the world to read the Bible, run toward Christ, and never look back. You are a best-seller!!! I hope there is down time for you and @lenacmitchell in your very near future. Much, much deserved.

Every quarter, I try to take a day to process what’s happening personally and professionally.

The year started slow for @emboldenmediagroup then accelerated faster than I expected. Q2 —> Q3 —> and here we are in Q4, and there hasn’t been space to process hardly anything.

Amos 9 (The Message) says there’s a season God brings when things happen so fast your head will swim, one thing on the heels of another, the harvest coming in faster than it can be gathered. That has been my year, and the last several weeks I just gave up trying to post about any of it. But I want to give it another shot today, because God’s been too good to not say something.

Last week I was in Philadelphia with my mother at the Honor Thy Mother conference, born from @drsaritalyons’s book Honor Thy Mother (@prhchristian, August). Sarita brought together some of her fellow @emboldenmediagroup clients @thisisalbaner, @sablevictorian, @pastorcurt215, @jackiehillperry, and other amazing clinicians. Together, they made a safe place for more than 1,000 people to heal from deep wounds. There were no words to capture the freedom God brought to people in that room.

Then this weekend I was in Dallas supporting another client @philipamitchell as he signed copy after copy of his forthcoming book Contend, which I’m hearing is the largest release in HarperCollins Christian Publishing’s history. And last night, I joined the 80,000 people at Access, who prayed and worshiped in chorus for the many things God impressed on their hearts to bring before Him. I stand in agreement with 2 Chronicles 7:15 for each prayer prayed.

As fast and as big as things are happening for some of our clients who began with just a word and a vision, I’m believing God for a measure of humility, grace, and wisdom to help us help them carry it all and steward it well.

A W-Day for the books. 📚

If the story of this team has taught us anything, it’s that the best chapters are written together, in the big moments and the footnotes, through plot twists and turning points, with plenty of stories we’ll be telling long after the page has turned.

We’ve written quite a few chapters together already.

But something tells us the best pages are still ahead of us.

Onward to the next chapter. ❤️

Forever grateful for these two friends.

Kyle Olund believed in the message of Neighborliness before anyone else (alongside my agent, Esther). He was working at Hachette Publishing the first time he saw the proposal, before the book was ever written. He fought for me there, and on my 40th birthday in 2019, we got word that Hachette passed on publishing Neighborliness.

We ended up publishing it independently through Fedd Books in 2020, and it went much farther than anyone expected. Kyle later reached back out to our team, letting us know he had been following the way Neighborliness was impacting the hearts of people and communities.

He shared that he had moved to HarperCollins and that they were interested in acquiring the book, updating it, and re-releasing it through their channels.

That’s when I met Chasity. She came alongside me to create our PR and marketing plan. She landed major media outlets like Good Morning America, Christianity Today, Jesus Calling, Relevant Magazine, and countless podcast interviews.

More than a business partnership, Kyle and Chasity became friends. They believe in me, and they believe in the message of Neighborliness. I’m deeply grateful to call them friends and partners in this ever-evolving story.

I met with Kyle yesterday in Nashville to talk about next steps for Neighborliness and to share about my upcoming writing projects. His eye for this industry and his trusted place in my life are gifts I never take for granted. I’m so grateful.

Nothing beautiful and impactful happens in isolation. HarperCollins, The Fedd Agency, Esther Fedorkevich, Tori Thacher (my editor), Kyle, Chasity, and so many more all play a part in what God has done and continues to do with this book.
