Which of these “…Margaret” covers do you remember?? (Can you believe how many there are?!?)
Today we are encoring our great conversation full of #MargaretMoments ahead of next week’s banned book club discussion at @andersonsbookshop in Downer’s Grove, IL. If you’d like to attend, register via the linktree link in our bio!

Being tagged in this post of @kmarch67 reading an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) of my memoir took my breath away. There it is … out of my hands and soon into yours.

When I first submitted the manuscript to my editor back in late 2023, she said she emailed it to a few folks internally. “Whattt?” I said. “You just casually sent my heart around the office?!” 😂I realize now that was just the beginning of getting used to people reading my words without me knowing (I do also realize this is the point)!

Last week stacks and stacks of ARCs were put into the hands on indie booksellers including Karen in the hopes they welcome it into their store come March 2025. Karen shared she could relate to my story through her own experience with an unmothered heart. “I wish I could package a hug with your copy,” I told her. “This book IS your hug,” she said. Yes! What an uplifting reply. Consider this a book and hug all in one. If my path can help illuminate parts of yours, every ounce of vulnerability is so worth it. #mariannerichmond #memoir #healingjourney #motherhood

Full confession about all the post debut feels:

Some part of me is still suprised that theres an audience for my books- one that loves my words and finds meaning and relatability in them. I know this is wrong, probably some part of my inner child that still needs healing, and I hope I can someday kick this feeling to the curb, but some part of me still asks myself- why would my words or stories matter? Who would read them?

I don’t know if this is because I grew up feeling like I didn’t belong- growing up hiding some parts of myself in fear of stereotypes being applied to box me in, or if this is my own anxiety that lives in my brain, but honestly, it is still scary at times to be unapologetically Muslim. I still worry- am I too much, too loud? Am I going to be misunderstood? Will my words be seen as too different?

But I want my kiddos to see me being brave! Kareem is about being brave🩷

Honestly- meeting with so many amazing readers and booksellers who loved Kareem Between these past weeks has been so so touching and healing for my heart (shout out to Amber at @valpopress and Cynthia at @4kidsbooks and @kmarch67 and @katie.reilley who I met at @andersonsbookshop and who just filled me with so much joy at hearing their love for KB)! Book people are truly the best people🥹🩷

Seeing so many Muslim readers connect with Kareem makes me so honored to rep my community. Seeing how so many people from so many different backgrounds feel a kinship with Kareem has made my heart soar. Peeking in on goodreads and seeing how many people have gushed about this book of my heart may have made me cry! And the NBA longlist- I can’t even begin to describe how thrilled I am!!

I hope Kareem Between makes a positive change in our world🩷

THANK YOU readers! Thank you for all the love Kareem has received in such a short time- I am so so grateful!🩷
