Delve deep into the forest at the UK & Ireland premiere of Whispers in the Woods 🌲

We're delighted to bring audiences an exclusive screening at BFI IMAX with director Vincent Munier and award-winning broadcaster Kate Humble.

Tickets are now on sale via whispersinthewoodsfilm.com or bfi.org.uk — links in bio!

Celebrated wildlife photographer Vincent Munier invites us into the heart of the Vosges forests. It is here Vincent’s father Michel, a naturalist, taught him everything. Now, it is time for them to pass on this wisdom to Vincent’s son, Simon. Three perspectives, three generations, and a shared fascination for wildlife. With them, we discover deers, rare birds, foxes and lynxes... and sometimes, the beating of wings of the mythical animal: the capercaillie.

Should you go to the Galapagos?

That was the question explored at last night’s Galapagos Day event in London, hosted by our partners, @galapagosconservationtrust

Moderated by writer and broadcaster Kate Humble, the panel brought together a diverse range of perspectives, including His Excellency Mr Luis Vayas Valdivieso, Ambassador of Ecuador to the United Kingdom; Chloe King, Tourism Project Consultant at the Galapagos Conservation Trust; Jarrod Kyte, Impact Director at Steppes Travel; Galapagos local Daniel Proaño Bravo, founder of Fundación Un Cambio por la Vida; and Dr Sally Uren OBE, Forum for the Future.

Together, they explored how tourism can support local livelihoods while safeguarding the unique wildlife and ecosystems that make Galapagos so remarkable.

A key focus of the evening was the new Galapagos Visitor Code of Conduct, providing practical guidance on how to explore the islands responsibly and respectfully.

It was a thought-provoking evening and a timely reminder that the future of adventure depends not only on where we go, but how we choose to explore.

What a privilege to capture such a sighting of a mother fox and her cubs on a warm summers evening 8 years ago. I remember the excitement of the moment, realising that they were not Muntjac deer, but foxes and a family at that. For a while the two cubs played in front of me and then disappeared back into the undergrowth with their mother. I then took advantage of getting up closer to the spot as quietly as possible and trying to remain comfortable which is not always easy in wildlife photography. After a while, the mother came back out with her cub soon after for a cuddle. 🥰I was sat 20 metres away, with the sun behind me with the glare supposedly blaring out my outline, and hoping that they could not smell me. They sat in front of me for some time, and I have never had such a sighting of rural foxes in a very long time indeed. If ever you do, believe me you better make the most of it as the next one may not be for some while to come!

It's getting the time when the birds must work hard to forage and feed themselves before the winter cold sets in. Here is a robin foraging in the winter light of a few years ago. Little birds like him must constantly be on alert for their main enemy: the sparrow hawk!

While Klaus was in a bad mood, Simba played the lover in parallel with his Disney counterpart. However, you would be very wrong to think that lion courtship is the same as portrayed in the beloved 1994 Lion King film. It often involves a lot of grumbling, growling and roaring with the female turning round to slap the male in the face at the end which happens roughly 25-50 times a day. But at Longleat, the lions are all getting on a bit now and to keep control of numbers, the females carry contraceptive implants so no serious breeding can actually take place. Hope you find this little nugget of knowledge useful.

Lion Country. Stay in your car or you will be the feast. Watch these lords of the English plains as they bask in morning sunshine. Resting and sleeping is indeed something that lions excel at. However, if one is able to view them early while out on Safari experience in the wilds of Africa or on a VIP photo experience at Longleat, you're sure to see some action! So enjoy beholding the King of the beasts!

In the world of photography, one must understand the importance of light in order to create artistic pictures and so grab the viewers attention. This photo is as it was shot in the camera and not one bit of Lightroom editing was needed. This must be our goal if we want to excel as photographers!

The new issue of Wanderlust has dropped. And I can confirm it’s a cracker!

Kate Humble visits Kruger National Park on its centenary to meet the individuals writing its next chapter; Mark Stratton voyages through the Ross Sea on a vessel that travels further south than any other recorded; George Kipouros marvels at Holy Week in Guatemala and Nicaragua; while Peter Moore spends his Easter visiting beautiful Lviv during a ceasefire. And I wondered whether Germany’s business hub “Mainhattan” - Frankfurt - is worth a stay in its own right (yes!).

Our cover star is our Destination of the Year, California. You may feel the Golden State needs little introduction but we guarantee you’ll find surprises and inspiration aplenty.

And then we also have a fabulous feature on #Spain’s cultural surprises and @simon_reeve on the new series of #Wilderness. Plus the wildlife of #Cyprus, America25000, some amazing river cruises and so much more.

Huge kudos and 🙏 as ever to our brilliant contributors and team 👏👏👏
