First gravel race in the books ✅

I have cycled for more than a decade on and off. I’ve always had a passion for it, but never took it to the next level. A few weeks a ago I signed up for my first race. Did I train as much? Absolutely not lol. I went out there with the goal of having fun, taking in the views, and finishing. Well I finished! Not in the way I expected, but I was going to cross that finish line one way or another. On to my 60 miler in Oct 😎

Race stats:
-felt good fitness wise and was fueled up properly
-multiple stiff leg cramps took me out - truly took me out. Every time one happened that was mins off my bike to recover. Started at mile 21 so only halfway through the race
-last half of the race was grueling. Hiked my bike up all the biggest climbs while cramping
-after the last climb legs were fairly cooperative. Pushed through it and was able to enjoy the flowy single track and views
-finished dead last - but not before crashing hard into the turn to the finish line

Despite everything that happen - yes I’ll be racing again!
