The monster is here! ZIVNE is the fourth collective book by ZONE and it features the work of 167 artists! We will ship the first batch by the end of this month. For those who still haven’t ordered one, the link is in our bio! Get yours while they last. 📚 “Like each one before it, it began with an open call with no set theme or concept, and no idea what it would become. We believe that books reveal themselves through the act of making. It’s not something we impose upon the images, but something we discover within them. Gradually, curiously, by listening closely. This time, as in our first issue, the sequence of the images follows the alphabet. As we continued to eliminate images and move them around, we realized that they were already speaking to one another in their fixed, alphabetical order. They flowed. Somehow, strangely, there was a sense of rhythm and logic. We followed this rhythm, trimmed it to its core and kept what remained.” Editorial layout by Ali Beşikçi • @besikciali Cover design by Bülent Erkmen Published by ZONE • @zonepaper Printed by Ofset Yapımevi • @ofset.yapimevi Limited edition of 300 ©️Artists for the images ©️ZONE for this edition #THEZONEZINE

Kody Zenger (@kodyzenger) is a photographer and cinematographer living in the US Virgin Islands. He began his career in 2010 traveling with NGOs, photographing and telling their stories, which lead him all around the world. As time and tech went on, video also became a big part of the job, and cinematography became Kody’s main focus. After working for several years at various in house production companies, it became clear it was time to go freelance full time. “This work was photographed in the US Virgin Islands. I moved there in 2020 during Covid, with my wife and two young children. We moved into a tiny upstairs apartment, in a house with my brother and sister-in-law, their three children, and my mother and father-in-law. My work as a cinematographer had been shut down, and the warm Caribbean outdoor life sounded like the perfect option for our kids. We committed to a year, but stayed for nearly five. The project is about escapism, at the core of it. There are few places in the world that it is so on display. From the billionaires that come into dock their $300M yachts, to the Virgin Islanders struggling to make it and escaping through music and festivals. Or the restaurant workers, many trying to leave behind a troubled past or the couples/families that got stale in the normal life in the states and they move to the Caribbean in hopes to reignite their marriages or connect more deeply with their kids. In many way there is an undercurrent of pain here. You have to be willing to see past the smiles and the sunshine and the crystal clear water. Sure, maybe this is everywhere but here the PLACE ITSELF, 9/10 times is what people hope to be their painkiller. That’s what makes it so interesting. For me it was never that.” Check out Kody’s work and others in the Round Trip issue of Pearl Press at pearl-press.com/round-trip (link in bio) - #pearlpress
