25 was by far the worst year of my life. I lost my best friend, my lifeline, my mom, the person who I knew I would have to live without one day, but wasn’t sure how I ever would. And so much sooner than I ever would have thought. I was forced to grow up in ways I never would have thought and so much sooner than I imagined. There were so many days where I truly felt like I was drowning, in any and everything. From grieving to becoming the primary caregiver and decision maker for dad. Nothing prepares you for that. But I made it and am making it through. As good as I can. And I’m thankful to God and to my village for that. I’m thankful for my people that saw me and showed up for me. And continue to do so. I’m thankful for the prayers and chats that reminded me of things I never would have thought of. The talks that reminded me that I will be okay. Even when it seems impossible to see that. I’m thankful for the laughs and the distractions when I needed them the most. But also the encouragement to feel the emotions that have come along with this new life.

I don’t know what 26 has in store. But I know that I will make it through. I know that I am more than the things I’ve been through. I’m made for more. More than my traumas, my losses, my weak days, etc. I know God has a purpose for me that is so much bigger than I could ever imagine. I know there is peace and happiness somewhere down the road. For now, it’s just day by day. Here’s to pouring into me a little bit more. And giving myself some of the love and care that I so effortlessly give to those around me. Here’s to healing and finding myself in the midst of the things that come along with each day. Here’s to 26, and whatever it has in store🙇🏽‍♀️🤍🙏🏽
