In 1916, Houdini escaped from a straitjacket while hanging from the roof of the Commercial Appeal building, right here in Memphis. He played this city three times, and this Halloween marks 100 years since his death.

Next Thursday, October 29, I’ll be back on @liveat9.tv 🪄 with @kontji on @wreg3, talking about Houdini in Memphis and National Magic Week. Kontji and I may also try a little something he would have appreciated.

Thursday morning at 9. I hope you’ll tune in.

HBCUs are back in style.

@therevdrdavis, President of @loc_magicians, tells @kontji why enrollment is up at the 5th oldest HBCU in the country, how the A Different World reboot is driving applications, and how the @deionsanders effect put a new spotlight on HBCUs.

LOC just cut the ribbon on a multi-million dollar Turk Center - Technology, Innovation, Research Center for computer science, cybersecurity and internships that are actually getting students hired in Memphis.

Not just a degree - employment after graduation.

Babe, come hang out with me rq but we have a LONG day ahead of us (per usual) 🤏🏽

I’m here, there, and everywhere in real life. Tending to every single fruit in my garden. Is it easy? NO. Am I built for it? YES. 💅🏽

Think of me as your modern-day Black mom version of Elle Woods. “What, like it’s hard?” 🙂‍↔️💕

Another gentle reminder that you CAN be all of the things you want to be. You don’t have to choose one hat or the other. 🫶🏽✨

💭 Thank you for tuning in to “food news” on @liveat9.tv with @kontji on @wreg3. It’s been a pleasure sharing my passion for food science in an educational and informative way. Huge shoutout to my colleagues @blackseedsurbanfarms x @republic_services x @rupkeheidi x @yellowbugyoga for bringing a wealth of knowledge (and good vibes) to the set.

Carpe Diem,
