I attended MIPCOM in Cannes this week! 🇫🇷

To start, the airlines lost my luggage. (Thank God for Zara and the three discounted outfits I had to buy to get me through the first few days AND opening night of the conference! 🤷🏻‍♀️ )

As a producer, I had great meetings, attended the Women's Mentoring Lunch and Asia & Global Exec Roundtable Discussions, explored different countries' booths and pavilions, and of course enjoyed sunsets on the French Riviera!

It is not lost on me what a huge blessing it is to be able to travel to France, continue learning about this fast-evolving world of television, share adventures with colleagues (whom I also call friends!), and meet manyyyy new colleagues and future collaborators!

Merci, Cannes. J'ai hâte de te revoir. ❤️

“All of these harmful systems were imagined. It is our duty to imagine something better.”

I love how @osopepatrisse reminds us that someone had to imagine and create prisons and that reminder informs how I think about our responsibility to imagine freedom. I visited the church I grew up in, Grant A.M.E., to share MAROONS and talk about the tools we have to create freedom today. ❤️ As part of @falloffreedom the service included voter registration with @votedotorg 🫶🏾 Remember to check your registration and remind two or three people to check theirs!

MAROONS premieres @thefordla on Friday, October 16 for one night only, and I’m thrilled to be debuting the role of George!

Set in 1833 and beyond, MAROONS is a genre-bending theatrical performance that opens with a real runaway slave advertisement and blossoms into a layered journey following Eve and Celine, two women who refuse the conditions imposed on them and make a daring escape toward a hidden colony of maroons.

That’s a wrap! There are no words to sum up how grateful I feel when a dream team comes together. A cast and crew so magical, you can literally feel things falling into place. This was one of those projects for me. ❤️

I’m incredibly honored to say I directed “The Choice,” and we created something really special. Thank you Kristina Miller-Weston for trusting me with a project so near and dear to your heart. And thank you Emi Mendieta, Charlotte Oxley, Ari Mauk and Heather Shields for having my back and executing flawlessly.

I always say the key to a phenomenal meal is starting with phenomenal ingredients. And that’s exactly what we did. We brought together some incredible people, and they showed up ready to create. 🎬✨

Now @ari.cinematography gets to work her magic in post and bring it all home.
