Announcing the FROG BOY BAR HOP! 🐸🍻💨

Mark your calendars on Saturday, October 10 for Queer New Theatre’s FROG BOY BAR HOP! We’re so excited to announce this fundraiser for our next production, I WAS A TEENAGE FROG BOY. 🐸

At QNT, we love a bar crawl. But we wanted to keep the spirit of our upcoming production, so we’re making it a bar HOP. Starting at 7:30PM, we’ll meet at Crossing for the beginning of our hop. 📍

Those joining us on the hop can get their very own STAMP BOOK. 📖 For every location along our hop path you go to with your stamp book, you can get a stamp! And when you reach our last location, you can turn in your stamp book for special prizes! 🎁 Each venue will get you a different surprise, AND getting all three will earn you one of our special "frog hop champion" medals! 🥇

From Crossing we’ll go to @lecabaretnolabar, and then on to @originalnitecap, where we’ll end the night with a queer dance party. 👯‍♀️ As we move from location to location we'll have treats to keep you entertained.

But wait, there’s more! Come in your best froggy attire for our COSTUME CONTEST! At our dance party we’ll pull participants on stage for a special award ceremony, find the best frog hopper for our teenage frog boy, and hand off the prizes. 🎁

To join us on our fundraiser bar hop it’s just $15, getting you a stamp book and entrance to the dance party at Nitecap. 💃 🪩 🕺

Can’t make the hop? No worries! We’re also offering entry to JUST the dance party for a reduced cost of just $10. If you join us for just the late party, you can still join the costume contest! 🐸👯‍♀️🐸

We'll see you SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10TH for the

Official photos from The Del Shores Foundation's Writers Festival in Pensacola, Florida! 🌸

My Play 𝘈𝘕𝘐𝘔𝘈𝘓𝘚 ~𝘰𝘳~ 𝘞𝘦 𝘑𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘞𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘓𝘰𝘷𝘦... was chosen as the winner of the playwriting category for @delshoresfoundation Writers Search! At the beautiful @pensacolalittletheatre, I had some incredible actors present the script, and I couldn't have been happier with it. Us winners, finalists, and panelists all had such an amazing time. The panelists were stellar and had a wealth of knowledge, but they were also kind and sat right next to you at the table (or the bar during a drag show).

Not only were connections made at the festival, but friendships as well. We shared, we learned, we laughed, we danced, and we ate 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘵. I can't wait to see each and every one of these lovely people again- wherever & whenever that may be. I am so greatful to be a part of the Del Shores Family <3. I love being a queer writer!

And a specific thank you to the mighty Peter Paige!

Celebrating!! Producing our Del Shores Foundation Writers Festival leads to one of the most rewarding weekends of my year, every year!

We move it every year to engage with a different Southern arts and queer community, and this year, we moved to Pensacola. Bringing all of these brilliant LGBTQ+ Southern playwrights & screenwriters together with queer professionals from TV, film and theatre leads to such a joyful time! The panels are great, the readings of the winning scripts are incredible, and yet it’s the time just spent enjoying each other over meals that I alway remember most.

This year was uniquely special because five years ago I met a young writer named Will Mettlach and encouraged him to submit to our Writers Search. He did - and won Best Short! Then, he took our Production Grant, raised his funds and with the support of Pensacola production company, Calliope Films, made his film. So this year we got to screen that finished short in the theatre where we first met. It’s rewarding to see real world, tangible advancement in the careers of our writers.

Also, selfishly, it fills my spirit just to be in community together. And a ton of people support the Foundation all year to make it possible! So thank you first and foremost to the Red Ribbon Charitable Foundation for sponsoring and to Kathy Holsworth at Pensacola Little Theatre and Laynie Gibson and Stamped Film Festival for being incredible partners. And thank you to our Board, and Ambassadors, and donors for your support both in funding and enthusiasm. Thank you to the fantastic Pensacola actors who brought their talents to the readings!

A deeply felt thanks to our guest artists, who give of their time to share their practical experience! And also specifically to Mat Hayes, our new Development Director and Leslie Kimbell or Board liaison to theatre partners for going above and beyond.

And of course, Del Shores, whose career and determination inspires all of this!

And finally, thank you to these writers! For sharing your stories with us, for choosing to be out, and telling stories on Southern communities where both of those things are incredibly impactful.

Thanks all!! ✍️🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
