🪷 26 books for 2026 🪷

Thank you @fangirlsbookshelves for tagging me, I think I succeeded to make a list of books that I really want to read this year and I would pick them up at some point. 🙊✨

I really want to read Magnolia Parks and BoT this year, because both of these series were on the list for last year, but as usual my mood didn’t follow the plan.

I put The Irresistible Urge to Fall For Your Enemy because I’m 20% into the book and I want to finish it this year plus the second book ofc, and The Second Death of Locke 40%.

Also, I want to get out of my comfort zone and read something different, something new, to explore new authors, so I’m planning to start with Sally Rooney and Backman. 🙊

And romance and fantasy ofc. 🫠🪄

There’s also a chance I will not read half of these books, but I’ll be positive that I can, actually, for once, follow the list I made 😆✨❣️

I’m starting Magnolia as soon as I finish Mockingjay, which is also on the list for this year, but my other list (lol), and I think it’s a pretty good start, I am sticking to the plan for now (mostly). 🤣🤭🧚🏼‍♀️✨💌🪷🪄

I really enjoyed the setting–there’s something comforting about the blend of seasonal vibes, close-knit community, and a romance that unfolds at an unhurried pace. Borison’s writing is warm and inviting, and the book excels at creating moments that feel intimate and emotionally grounded.

the romance is a slow burn, built on gentle banter, mutual respect, and emotional safety. instead of relying on overused tropes or high-stakes misunderstandings, Borison focuses on connection, on how two people learn to see and support each other when they’re not at their best. the chemistry feels earned, and the love story is as much about personal healing as it is about romance. the “spirits” element works more as emotional texture than plot gimmick, reinforcing the novel’s themes of memory, loss, and moving forward, even though we get an inside look at the Department of Hauntings & Spirits as a plot element.

that being said, while the characters are likable, they didn’t fully captivate me the way I hoped. the romance is sweet and steady, but it felt a bit predictable, and some emotional beats didn’t hit as strongly as they could have. there were moments where the conflict resolved a little too neatly, making the story feel less impactful than I usually prefer. I wanted just a bit more tension or depth to push it from “pleasant” to “memorable.”

overall, B.K. Borison writes the coziest and loveable stories I can't even imagine and this one is a perfect addition to her repertoire.

2025 was easily my worst year in terms of reading, and I miss wanting nothing but to reach for my book and starting a new one as soon as I’m finished.

Okay, real talk.😬 Yeah I said it was fun but the whole process really wasn't that much fun.🫣 @milicaareads knows... first choosing the books according to colors but also the ones I really loved and enjoyed reading, and then choosing the background.🤦‍♀️ Yeah, you read that right...
