We’re thrilled to announce the return of Photorama with a month of programming throughout June!

Photorama is Gallery TPW’s bi-annual print sale fundraiser, helping support gallery operations and programming. This year, we’re switching things up with the introduction of B-SIDES + OUTTAKES, offering test prints, proofs, research images, film stills or happy accidents from over 135 Canadian artists such as Sarah Angelucci, Birthe Piontek, Aaron Jones, Joyce Joumaa and Isabel Okoro among many others - at affordable price points.

Join us on Thursdays after work from 5pm-7pm in June for a little happy hour, hosted by Photorama artists. Here’s your chance to meet some of the contributing artists, purchase a print (or two) from this year’s Photorama and find out more about Gallery TPW’s upcoming programs.

I don’t mean for this to sound like the Oscar’s but when I took on this assignment I had no idea how it was going to go. The flowers I sourced made this presentation “next level” (actual quote) and gave me the opportunity to talk about the importance of locally grown flowers for pollinators, birds, wildlife and the ecosystem of our city.
Omg I had so much fun.
I’m ready for the next phase of my career as a Floral DJ. (Lol sort of)

January 10, 2015. Derek Shapton & I got married surrounded by our three kids, close friends and family at the beautiful Propeller Cafe. Last night around the dinner table we were asking the kids what they remembered about the night: unlimited pop, crawling through the adults legs on the dance floor, laughing. I remember generous friends helping out: Rachel @rachelazzopardigruet made pie for dessert, Taya&Jo @luckytaya55 @willemandjools decorating with mossy rocks and driftwood, my beautiful friend Michelle (dearly departed) insisting that she would love to do my makeup, Reeshi @reeshi1 on the turntables, custom dress from @horses, invite illustrations by @shaptonia, photos by @kannakko Kristi & Losel making the space @propellercoffeeco available to us. If you were there, please share your memories! It means so much to us both!

📝 About: The style of 17th century Dutch Golden Age still life paintings inspires Kristin Sjaarda’s photographs. She carefully arranges flowers grown in her downtown neighbourhood with objects passed down to her from her Dutch grandmother’s family, birds loaned to her from the Royal Ontario Museum, and insects from the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory. Says Sjaarda, “the images are a reflection of both my heritage and [my] city and are printed and presented at larger-than-life scale to render these fragile subjects in a manner that is powerful, provocative, and immersive. While the 17th-century artworks were made in an era of expansion and exploitation, these images strive to preserve what is now threatened by climate change.”

Second day @artistprojectto !
i love coming in really early to visit with artist friends and check out all the art before the show opens. yesterday, we paid homage to the illustrious @focalocity on her #65thbirthday !
there was cake and mimosas for our breakfast/lunch that kept me going for the first half of the show. also loved seeing visitors matching with me and my booth! on to day 3 today ...
