POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We ended the 2026 racing season early and missed a few other races this year, but still ended up with a couple awards at the @duluthyachtclub banquet!

🥈 Spring Inshore Series A Class
🏆 Duluth Triangle Race

we are really proud of our Triangle Race this year. Swipe to see conditions from that day 👀 Lake Superior was something fierce and only 2 of the ~10 boats that planned to race actually started. Unfortunately, Enigma blew up a jib early on and had to turn back. Our crew made a quick, but very unanimous decision to stick it out. We had a super solid crew, great provisions, and plenty of anti-nausea meds to go around 😅 Once we were the only boat in it, we focused a little more on safety and comfort. There is something eerie about being the only boat on Western Lake Superior for as far as the eye can see, in 6+ ft waves, winds gusting to 30 kts, heading into the overnight hours. We learned in the days following just how many people were tracking us on AIS, making sure we were safe and sending all sorts of accolades ☺️

An early-season rail jam so good, it sold out weeks ahead of time.

@trollhaugentroll hosted its annual OpenHaugen event this past weekend. Per usual, the locals were killing it.

Jammin to @tresososmusic, winning coveted raffle items, sippin @earthriderbeer brews. There was so much JOY last night at our second annual Kai Cup community social event. All in the name of bringing more awareness and support to LGBTQ+ youth and young adults.

Initial estimates put our raffle and 50/50 ticket sales at approximately $3700 - which we will be donating to @transnorthland. Much love, y’all 🫶

And big thanks to photographer @drei.drachen.photo

In my sailing era?

Sophie's rules of sailing:
1. Don't fall off
2. Don't get hit by the boom
3. Stay out of the way
4. Bring snack

I had such fun time learning the ropes (okay, the sheets) aboard @screaming_o_sailing this season, and am happy to report that I successfully accomplished my goal of staying aboard all season. Thanks for to the crew for putting up with my lackthereof actual sailing experience and taking me in as a novice!

It was lots of fun, at times quite exciting, and during my last race of the season with 5 total crew aboard, downright exhausting. I'm looking forward to next season when I will actually understand more than 10% of what is being said during races and promise to study up on my nautical terms and knots during the off-season. Hoping to not be covered in (somewhat) mysterious sailing bruises next summer! 😅

I also wanted to take a chance to highlight this weekend's @kai_cup_ - a Memorial Sailing Event in memory of Kai Hoenig to raise funds for Transgender Youth, with proceeds donated to @transnorthland

Vertical photos of the Duluth Triangle Start and Finish. Because INSTAGRAM. It was a relief to see Screaming "O" cross the finish line at 05:49:41 Saturday morning. From the south breakwater outer lighthouse, 14-Aug-26, 17:34 ff

Thank you @kstarholden for capturing these special photos for me. These make me feel so magical and capture all the love I feel for my sweet baby girl. You really knocked this outta the park.

There are too many favorites from @duluthtrailsfest to put into a single post. I accidentally picked out over 300 photos that I was excited to share with everyone but that is way too many posts… or is it? 🤔

Anyway, getting to shoot this event as an official photographer was a total honor (and a ton of work). I cannot thank @pgreehan and @k.hoheisel enough for the warm welcome and consideration of me as a photographer. Forever grateful to them for that. It was also a privilege to work alongside two absolutely outstanding photographers, @kstarholden and @higherbasemedia. These two have such positive energy and are both so inspiring to watch. I hope we all get to work together again!

I’m also beyond grateful for the community and constant support from everyone over the years, it really means the world. I wouldn’t be where I am now without you all. I’m trying to refrain from being too sappy but this community truly has changed my life in ways that I could have never imagined. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. 🫶

See you all soon!
