Effigy Tour 2020 @yatikafields #STTLMNT second Effigy Pot mural is complete in Lawrence, Kansas, powerful work and community intentions, congrats to all⚡️⚡️⚡️

Repost & image share by @kunturwarmi -
Art as a doorway for awakening, for healing. That is what @yatikafields brought to #lawrenceks this week.
Come and step in front of the the effigy mural created by super talented artist @yatikafields (behind the @lawrenceantiquemall ), for the #settlementuk project.

This isn’t just simply a beautiful depiction of a pre-columbian effigy pot is an invitation to find your place in this land, which is Indigenous land.

@settlement_uk has gathered amazing indigenous artist for this event. This is a exempt of the statement
“ #STTLMNT maintains the ethos of Indigenization as well as the strategy of occupation. By reclaiming (digital) space, we not only find ways to disseminate our post-colonial art works but we stake a radical, visionary claim on the future. You are invited in to experience this digital occupation, and as you do please practice respect and understanding. This is our work, our world vision, our heart, our future dreaming, our technology, our stories, our complexity, our resilience, our pain, our beauty, our art and our community. “

Thank you to whoever wrote this on the @natives_now mural that @spottedcloud and I have been working for a while now on 11th St & Pennsylvania St (still in progress)
Having some of our material shit stolen and insults written is not going to stop us, WE RISE ABOVE!!! .
.
In a more broader topic...
Can brown and black people do art without making the oppressor uncomfortable?
Apparently not.
Well, Get used to being uncomfortable when black and brown people display the full range of color of their traditions and culture ON YOUR FACE! ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿
Oh btw #youareonstolenland
