Getting to know our guest DJ @kurt_ruslin of @discodeathrecords

Cult Susceptibility: 3/10
I would have to be really dazzled to be brought in. I have my guard up a lot.

Core cult tenet: My partners idea of the Cher cult. Lots of bedazzled stuff and just talking and dancing to the divas. That’s the only one I’m interested in.

Q: What kind of music should the people expect from you?

A: expect to hear a lot of HI-NRG music, nu-house disco and just straight bangers that you might not know but will be like “oh I like this”

Q: what’s something people that know you might not know about you?

A: I was in a water ski show for 9 years. Built pyramids, barefoot waterskied, dress in lots of costumes and performed every Thursday on Pewaukee lake in Wisconsin in the summer time

Sharing some of the works included in PROCESS MANUAL which will be on display at This and That from September 5-30.

This show has been very rewarding to put together, I've been digging through my source material archive and finding all the elements that went into each of these collages and reflecting on my own process development over the years. I've been lucky to get to make work for some heavy hitters!

I'm also announcing performers at both events today - At the opening reception on September 12th, Minneapolis will be blessed by the return of Itch Princess and DJ Dan Cool!

At the closing September 27th, I'll be giving a presentation about my process followed by a performance by Selfish Teammate with selections by DJ Kurt Ruslin. All of these people's various projects are represented in the work I'll be sharing in this show!

I hope to see you there!

Oh crap dang it you guys! I’ve been so darn busy scheming up @lakestreetlive I almost completely forgot my band is playing SATURDAY AUGUST 8TH at @the_terminal_bar_mpls 🤦🏻‍♀️😭🫠

Doh!!! Whatever! It’s going to be an dope ass show regardless because our bestie @rupert_angeleyes and some of our local favs @buriedanimals will be on the bill - so you KNOW you’re gonna boogie.

@with_two_tees put together this amazing flyer that warms my little Muppety heart 💜 The illustration is a technical drawing by artist Nancy Harrison and depicts how Jim would have puppeteered Kermit from below his swamp while he sings The Rainbow Connection 🌈. It’s from the book “Who Was Jim Henson?” By Joan Holub. (Yes, I am a huge fucking dork).

I love you all so much and sometimes I wonder how I survive everything I put on myself then I remember I am the luckiest woman on the planet with the best friends ever. I don’t have the brainpower to name you all right now but you know who you are. More on that later.

Ciao!

2025 highlights 💫

An excess of parties and weddings and bachelorette weekends made this a very busy year but really - who can complain about that? Grateful that I’m surrounded with others who positioned these celebrations to be adjacent to woods n water n desert rocks so I still got some serene nature times in as well.

Thankful for another year spent with people who make me feel very loved and appreciated and energized, all of which are things I haven’t always felt as consistently and securely as I do now.

2026 is definitely for slowing down and hibernating and spending less money and downsizing….. but I might try to sneak in some moments like those experienced this year to keep me goin 🪐🌷
