All 20 of our amazing Black Undergraduate Organizations showed out for the class of 2030 at our Annual BCL Mixer, in collaboration with CeraVe! With offerings of henna, a Photo Booth, berryline gift cards, and activities such as line dancing and painting, our freshman had an amazing time getting to know what the Black community has to offer.

Huge thank you to @cerave for sponsoring us with full-sized facial cleansers and moisturizers! Another thank you to @pbha for allowing us to use their lawn for our activities. What an amazing start to the year – we hope to see you at our future events!

HAPPY JUNETEENTHHHH🥳🥳❤️💙🤍 Quick intermission from the Singapore content, but for a very important reason!! Juneteenth, or “Freedom Day” marks a historic celebration commemorating when the last enslaved African Americans were freed in Texas in 1865 despite the Emancipation Proclamation being signed in 1863…if that tells you anything, it’s that the racial injustices in the United States (and the world at that) are farrrrrr from gone. 😫‼️ Today is a celebration and reminder of just how much progress we’ve made and all that’s yet to come. If this is your first time hearing about it, please do your due diligence and learn more about the history, and support Black businesses while you’re at it 😤🤞🏾 This is a throwback to the @kuumbasingers spring 2025 concert, and per usual they ateeee! 🙂‍↕️🥳 Fun fact: they’re the oldest Black org at Harvard 🤭🙌🏾 How are you celebrating Juneteenth?!👀🥳 Now can somebody save me a plate pleaseeee, I need some catfish and baked mac and cheese with a side of cornbread STATTTT😩😭 #juneteenth #thekuumbasingers #blackexcellence #savemeaplate

My upcoming book release is not the only exciting development of 2026 for me.   I hosted the Power Hour Gospel Sing-Along a few months ago in collaboration with the @kuumbasingers of Harvard College on March 6, 2026. I had the wonderful opportunity to connect with Harvard and Boston-area community members and find joy in gospel music—the music that I have been performing, studying, and now writing about!   A special thank you to @jarongreen & @jdbattlemusic as well as the band and singers for accompanying me on stage!   Music Director: @beanie.dot Keys: @synthsei  Drums: @deucebthomas Guitarist: Kendall Francis Bass: @_mauriceallenjr_  Soprano: @carrietjohnson24  Alto: @via.arriel  Tenor: @torrencejnelson  Photographer: @ademola.archive    Don’t forget that you can now pre-order The Platinum Age of Gospel book at your favorite online book retailer. Check out the links in my bio or my LinkTree for more information.  #PlatinumAge #PlatinumAgeOfGospel #PlatinumGospel #PowerHourGospel #PowerHour2026

✨That’s a wrap on the 40th Annual Cultural Rhythms Festival✨ This past Saturday, the Harvard Foundation was proud to host the 40th Annual Cultural Rhythms Showcase. This year’s theme, Bridges Through Time: 40 Years of Cultural Exchange, paid tribute to the changemakers who came before us and whose efforts to celebrate culture have strengthened the Harvard community. Each performance served as a bridge - connecting histories, identities, and traditions to future possibilities.   From a powerful conversation with the Honourable Sheryl Lee Ralph, OJ (Order of Jamaica) (@thesherylleeralph) as the recipient of the 2026 Cultural Impact Award to electrifying performances, CR40 was a reminder that culture connects us across generations and carries us forward.   Our stunning performers: The Kuumba Singers of Harvard College @kuumbasingers Harvard Undergraduate Asian American Dance Troupe @harvardundergraduateaadt Sharon Cheng Candela Latin Dance Troupe @harvardcandela Harvard Undergraduate Philippine Forum @philippineforum Harvard College Steelpan Ensemble @harvardcollegesteelpan Harvard Undergraduate Bhangra @harvardundergradbhangra Undergraduate Mariachi Veritas de Harvard @mariachiveritas Harvard RAZA Ballet Folklorico @harvardfolklorico Omo Naija x the Wahala Boys: Harvard Undergraduate African Dance Troupe @omoxwahala A very special thank you to our Cultural Rhythms Co-Coordinators, Jason Coreas and Amber Nolazco-Torres, whose vision, heart, and countless hours of dedication made this milestone festival possible, and to our phenomenal Co-Hosts, NanaYaa Dwomoh and Adaolisa Agbakwu, who carried the night with such infectious energy and joy. Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us! Here’s to 40 years of Cultural Rhythms, and many more to come! 📸Thanks to @shauntony for photos (1-15)! #HarvardFoundation #CulturalRhythms #CR40 #CulturalImpactAward #SherylLeeRalph Sheryl Lee Ralph holds award in air.
