Leaders and representatives from UCF's CECS RSOs attended yesterday’s SG hearing to voice their concerns about reduced RSO funding. These funds support our students attending conferences and competitions all across the United States.

Without these funds, our students would not be able to take advantage of networking opportunities, building record-breaking rockets or cars, or host events that help incoming students decide on UCF to be their home for their next four years.

UCF started as Florida Technological University with the purpose of supporting aerospace and other engineering disciplines, and is currently ranked in the Top 100 schools for the best in Engineering and Computer Science. We also ranked as 22nd at being the one of the top feeders to companies with Lockheed Martin and Disney being our top companies. These funds are vital to UCF's continued dominance in the field of engineering.

As a new RSO, First Step intends to use SG funding to support our students attend conferences and expand their network.

Please email the following SG Senators/Representatives if you want to share how this cut affects you and the RSO's you are in:

Paige Fintel, CECS Senator

Tyler Borges, Chair

Scarlett Robbins, Vice Chair

Knight Hacks is looking to establish new programs to support our members - from Kickstart (the revitalized Mentorship program where we hope to help you get an internship by the the end of the semester-long program) to the Competitive Dev Team (where we hope to send some of our talented hackers to hackathons across the country), but none of this would be possible without the funding and support we receive from Student Government.

Leaders and representatives from UCF’s CECS RSOs attended yesterday’s SG hearing to voice their concerns about reduced RSO funding (Internal Bill 54-40 2023-2024). These funds support our students attending conferences and competitions all across the United States. In addition to our countless projects and outreach efforts.

Without these funds, our students would not be able to take advantage of networking opportunities, building record-breaking rockets or cars, or host events that help incoming students decide on UCF to be their home for their next four years.

SHPE UCF relies on SG to pay 50% of the SHPE National Convention fees (hotel, flight, and registration) every year to give members the opportunities to get internships or full time job after graduation.
