The Great Wall of Cards received a restock today. We had a new order of @florence_fry_ cards arrive - designed and printed in Melbourne - and some gorgeous new cards from local artist Kym Corn @kymco.art .

And in a very controversial move, I’ve put the Christmas cards out. If cards need to be sent overseas, it’s time to start thinking about it. And I know many of you like to be organised so now is the perfect time to stock up and have them ready.

To make way for the Christmas cards, our babies and children’s cards can now be found where the toys and books are, and we’ve had some beautiful new additions here too.

Orchard Emporium is open 9 - 4 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. For the Grand Final long weekend, we are open on the Friday public holiday and Grand Final Saturday 9 - 2 and Sunday 9 - 1.

Hey Christina from @galleryunbound. A massive THANK YOU from myself and Kym from @kymco.art. We both had so much fun exhibiting at the Yours and Mine exhibition. Your relentless support, hard work and dedication to representing artists is so impressive and hugely appreciated.
Can’t wait for more exhibition adventures. Jen and Kym.

Jennifer McDermott @abacusdesigns and Kym Corn @kymco.art both create jewellery, bringing their own very different creative practices to something small enough to wear.

Jennifer, a graphic designer and screen printer, draws inspiration from the bold shapes of Art Deco and Bauhaus, while Kym brings her intuitive approach to abstract mixed media and collage into her jewellery-sized works.

Together in yours + mine, they show just how much creativity, expression and connection can exist in something small.

A little wander through yours + mine.

Different styles, different materials and very different approaches to making art, all brought together by connection.

Friends, family, collaborators, mentors and fellow creatives — each with their own story behind the work.

And this is only half of it. Part 2 coming soon.

Here we are @galleryunbound for the Yours and Mine exhibition. Kym from @kymco.art and I collaborated for the first time and I’m a bit impressed with what we achieved in a short amount of time.
And yes, we both got red dots on opening night. ☺️. Thank you to our lovely customers.
I’ll post more pics over the next few days as I slowly regain my brain.

A few weeks ago I approached Kym from @kymco.art to collaborate with me for the Yours & Mine exhibition @galleryunbound. She accepted!!

Kym has a very unique way of creating her jewellery making every piece unique. Firstly she paints and creates a piece of art. She then randomly places bamboo shapes on the back of the art, cuts around the shapes, then the big surprise is revealed when she turns them over.

No two pieces are ever the same making it an exciting creative journey. Well that’s my perception, best to ask Kym if she feels the same ☺️.

A great Saturday in the shop today. Thank you to everyone who came in. It’s lovely to start to get to know regular visitors and I’m even remembering some names! Go me!

Pop in tomorrow, from 9am to 1pm to see what’s new. New notecard boxes, including some from Marimekko. A beautiful Woodcut Journal. I’ll show you some more of this in the coming week but I’m starting to think Father’s Day gifts and if you have someone who enjoys writing or note taking, this would be the best gift.

New jewellery from @erinkcreativestudio and @kymco.art. All unique and beautiful.

And a restock of @weareposie candles. KIN sold out so quickly so that’s back, along with two new scents, POM (tomato leaf, lemon peel and moss) and AGI (blackcurrant, citrus and leather).

And PSA, we’re down to one Kookaburra Jug again. I can’t keep up!

See you Sunday Heathmont!
