During totality, Zea looked up and said, "the sun is in a hole"!
🌞🙃🌑
There were so many moments of serendipity, awe, and the most intense happiness this weekend.
I saw several Northern Flickers flying around the property. When setting up a tent, Jon and I found lots of feathers with their distinctive yellow shaft and yellow/black/white markings- eclipse feathers!
We were graced by a Luna moth on the outside of the house, it has been so long since seeing one, they are stunning.
There was rain, always a blessing, and somehow beautiful clear skies for the eclipse! Today, the cloud cover also made for a warm calm day of reflection and rest to the eyes.
Not to forget to mention the cosmic coincidence that the total solar eclipse can happen because the Sun is about 400 times bigger than the Moon, it is also about 400 times farther away from the Moon, making the Sun and the Moon appear almost exactly the same size in the sky which will change over millions of years. Wow, what the heck!
We were so fortunate to host family and friends travelling long distances and locally. Seeing the eclipse is something etched in our memories. It felt so weird and vulnerable to have the day change to night, even though it happens every day. We noticed the little things happening around us and connected us to something bigger.

A time lapse featuring the second shaping of our popular Fig & Hazelnut Sourdough! We work quickly, occasionally having to slow down for the sake of fermentation times of the dough. These will proof for a few hours, then head into the cooler to await their turn in the oven!

Come grab a fresh baked loaf tomorrow evening at the bakery from 5-7 p.m. 🥖
