A year ago today we created another bit of Loughborough Road history and unveiled a plaque on the house where orchid artist Nelly Roberts had lived all her life. This weekend some of Nelly’s paintings were on display @annapurnacafe and yesterday, on a beautiful sunny autumn day, I was joined by a lovely group of people on a walk round Nelly’s former neighbourhood. We talked former shop owners, local writers and publishers, sewers and stink pipes, bomb damage, buildings that have come and gone, horticulture, music hall, lost drinking fountains and of course about our local @myattsfieldspark. Basically, lots of the things I post about about here. 🙏 everyone who joined me. Normal business of random local history posts will be resumed from Sunday. #loughboroughroadhistory #nellyroberts #orchidpaintings #myattsfieldspark #localhistory #autumnsunshine #blueplaque
