what would Jezza do?

a question we often ask ourselves in ucl museums.

I did some very lazy asking AI during 'project Jezza' to find solutions to questions that arose such as:

q. post xmas I can't fit into my 'Jeremy' trousers, what diet suggestions did Jeremy Bentham have?
A. avoid foods that are detrimental to your long term health but continue to enjoy food.
likeable advice.

q. what music did Jeremy Bentham like and what would he approve of today?
A. Handel and Bach. today he would look at what was popular and recommend that, for example Ed Sheeran
over. my ( long) dead. body. I'm having Bach.

there's a very smart photoshoot and article featuring @uclartmuseum in this month's Apollo magazine by Brigid von Preussen.

It features our Flaxman collections in the bicentenary year of John Flaxman's death.

8 of our works are currently on loan to @yorkartgallery for their Flaxman exhibition which is open until January 17th.

discovered nice suppliers yesterday at Albert Circus plant fair - Kent Wildflower Seeds, turns out this is @kent.seeds family run since 1879.

got some for allotment and an urban spaces mix for the estate which im going to guerrilla sow in front of my neighbour ( who I think focuses their gardening interest on smokeables mainly)

nice plastic free packaging and good instructions 👍🌻

very lucky to visit Howard Hodgkin's studio again.

here is a thing,

in Canterbury at the weekend and saw a small stack of Granta mags in charity bookshop. suddenly recalled working with them on a particular article when I was a Picture Researcher with National Museums of Science and Industry.

picked up the Country Life issue and a few flicks in there it was! Farming photos from the Daily Herald archive by Liz Jobey.

This photo of hip pickers from Kent in the 50's is one of my favourite images ive ever worked with.

In Kent. finding the pictures of Kent Life I worked with 20 years ago by chance. tiny mind blown.

(mag bought for 2 quid )

a very happy time spent in Fransiscan Garden yesterday afternoon.

this is a place with amazing history but also hopefully an exciting future if they can raise the money needed for restoration. it was very quiet, and I wondered why more people weren't visiting. I'll be back in a flash if I get the chance.
