BEYOND THE SPOKEN WORD. 🤎 At the end of August, we gathered one last time for our summer Birthlooms Storytellers Circle Series, not simply to hear stories, but to sit with what they stirred within us. At Beyond the Spoken Word, we watched excerpts from Midwifery + The Black Birthing Family, listened to stories from FORESYTHE, and invited our community to respond through writing, drawing, reflection + conversation. There was something beautiful about witnessing a story move beyond the voice of the storyteller and into the hands, bodies, memories + imaginations of those receiving it. This gathering closed out a summer of storytelling, witnessing + collective remembering at Just Book-ish, and we are deeply grateful to the entire Just Book-ish community for partnering with us and holding space for this Birthlooms Storytellers Circle Series. Thank you to every storyteller who entrusted us with their words. Thank you to everyone who came to listen, create, reflect + witness. And thank you to Just Book-ish for giving these stories a home this summer. The circle may be closing for now, but the stories continue. 🌿 Copies of @foresythe.tdp will continue to be available for purchase at @justbook_ish this month so if you weren’t able to join us this summer, you can still bring these stories home with you. Until we gather again. 🤎 @thediahannproject @midwifery.black.birthing @birthlooms @foresythe.tdp @justbook_ish #BeyondTheSpokenWord #FORESYTHE #BirthloomsStorytellers #BlackBirthStories #CommunityStorytelling

What happens when we allow the stories of Black mothering, midwifery + birth to move beyond the words spoken? When we witness them not only with our ears, but through our bodies, memories, imagination + creative response? This short excerpt from Midwifery + The Black Birthing Family holds just one piece of a much larger living archive, stories of Black mothers, midwives, birth workers, families + communities whose experiences deserve to be witnessed, remembered + responded to. For the final gathering of our summer Birthlooms Storytellers Circle Series, we invite you to witness alongside us. BEYOND THE SPOKEN WORD Watch • Listen • Create • Respond As excerpts from @midwifery.black.birthing + @foresythe.tdp unfold, respond through art, writing, drawing, reflection + creative expression. What did you hear? What did you feel? What do you want to remember? What does this story ask you to carry forward? 📅 Sunday, August 30 | 3:30 PM 📍 @justbook_ish | Dorchester, MA Come witness the stories. Come sit with what they stir. Come help us tend this living archive. 🤎 RSVP REQUIRED | LINK IN BIO #BeyondTheSpokenWord #BirthloomsStorytellers #MidwiferyAndTheBlackBirthingFamily #FORESYTHE #BlackMotherhood

What happens when we allow a story to move beyond the words spoken? For the final gathering of our summer Birthlooms Storytellers Circle Series, we’re gathering a little differently. BEYOND THE SPOKEN WORD Watch • Listen • Create • Respond Join @thediahannproject + @justbook_ish for an intimate, interactive screening + creative response experience centering Midwifery + The Black Birthing Family + the Foresythe anthology. 📅 Sunday, August 30, 2026 🕞 3:30 PM 📍 Just Book-ish, 1463 Dorchester Ave, Dorchester, MA Together, we’ll watch excerpts from the preamble of @midwifery.black.birthing and listen to stories from @foresythe.tdp, our living archive of Black birthing families, birth workers + community. But this time, we’re inviting you to do more than listen. As the stories unfold, you’ll be invited to notice what they stir in your body, memory + imagination + respond through: ART • WRITING • DRAWING • REFLECTION • CREATIVE EXPRESSION Maybe it’s a word. A color. A memory. A question. An image. A feeling that doesn’t quite have language yet. Drawing boards, paper, writing + art materials will be available throughout the gathering. You do not need to consider yourself an artist or writer. Simply come as you are. At the heart of this gathering is a question we continue to carry: How do we hold stories once they have been entrusted to us? Perhaps an archive isn’t only something we preserve. Perhaps it is something we enter. Something we feel. Something we respond to. Something we continue creating together. Come witness. Come create. Come respond. Come help us close our summer Birthlooms Storytellers season by tending the living archive together. 🤎 RSVP REQUIRED | LINK IN BIO #BeyondTheSpokenWord #BirthloomsStorytellers #MidwiferyAndTheBlackBirthingFamily #FORESYTHE #TheDiahannProject

THIS AUGUST, WE GATHER WHERE BLACK HISTORY LIVES. 🖤🤎 On Saturday August 22nd, @natalwalks will gather at the historic African Meeting House at the Museum of African American History for our August Trail in celebration of #NationalBreastfeedingMonth + #BlackBreastfeedingWeek. The African Meeting House has held generations of Black gathering, organizing, worship, learning, resistance + imagining. Now, we enter this historic space centering another part of our collective story: Black birth, Black breastfeeding, nourishment, family, movement, ancestral wisdom + community care. Our morning will begin inside the African Meeting House with grounding, gentle movement + sound, and conversation around Black breastfeeding before we step onto Boston’s Black Heritage Trail for a 1.5-mile community walk. There is something sacred about gathering in a place our ancestors created for community + continuing that legacy by tending to Black birthing families today. 📍 Museum of African American History | 46 Joy Street, Boston 📅 Saturday, August 22, 2026 ⏰ 10 AM–1 PM 🤎 FREE + open to community RSVP is required to attend | 🔗 in bio Come as you are. Bring your family. Bring your story. Walk with us. Presented by @natalwalks + @birthlooms + @abucketforthewell in partnership with the @maahmuseum. #NatalWalks #BlackPerinatalWellness #BlackBreastfeedingHistory

Today reminded me that walking can be a powerful act of community. What an incredible honor it was for @natalwalks to partner with @trailblazhersrunco to lead their Walking Group for the 9th Annual Bra Run. As we gathered outside ICON, I welcomed our village with one simple invitation: come exactly as you are. And y’all did. From our elders and grannies to our aunties, caregivers, stroller baddies, toddlers taking up space with so much joy, seasoned walkers, first-time walkers + every person who chose to move with us today…THANK YOU for trusting us to walk beside you. Our Natal Walks Village became easy to find because of one simple thing… bubbles. 🫧 If you saw the bubbles floating through the streets of Boston, you knew you had found your people. Together we moved through the city laughing, talking, starting up new conversations + friendships, cheering one another on, reminding each other that every pace belongs. One of our favorite moments was creating a celebration tunnel as walkers + runners returned, especially for the stroller crew, cheering every single person along, because every body, every story + every step deserved to be celebrated. Deep gratitude to the incredible @trailblazhersrunco team. Thank you to our amazing walk pacers, the bike support team who helped keep our community safe along the route, the volunteers who showed up with such generosity + every vendor who helped make today’s event feel so welcoming and joyful. BIGGGGGG LOVE to our Natal Walks Village aka our Bubble Aunties who showed up + showed out today! Sooooo much love to you ladies! These women, mothers, aunties, friends are a mirror of our village. This is what Natal Walks has always been about: building a village where movement becomes medicine, strangers become community, and no one has to journey alone. Until next time… Keep following the bubbles. 🫧🤎 #NatalWalks #TrailBlazHersBraRun #BraRun2026 #WalkingCommunity #PerinatalMentalHealth
