Throwback to the best weekend in WV learning tintype with Lisa Elmaleh and the band of weirdos. Does anyone think collodion smells like soy sauce or is that just Bethany?

✨Highlight of my Life ✨ I wish I could bottle up this past weekend and keep it for the gloomy days. I have repeatedly found myself at a loss for words for how special this weekend was. Lisa Elmaleh is a brilliant photographer, artist, and all around wacky human. She created this incredible workshop where a bunch of strangers came together and learned wet plate collodion, but also created an environment where we could all connect with each other. We had the best time getting to know one another. I have not laughed so hard in a long time. This weekend was rejuvenating, inspiring, and life-changing. I went in excited to relearn wet plate collodion and see what the weekend held, and I left with deep new relationships, and the joy of witnessing brilliant artists at work. But more than that: shared meals and shared stories, delighting together in the beauty of light and also the worst song in the world and too many inside jokes to count. I am so thankful. I love each of you and I am sad we can’t all just camp out at Lisa’s for another week. What a gift.

Wet plate collodion weekend with some amazing folks in a WV holler. Learnin, Laughin, Lovin. Will post my tin types once they are done curing. Please all, check out Lisa Elmaleh and the important work she does at the border telling the stories, faces, tribulations, hopes, and despairs of migrants and refugees. She's one of my favorite people I've ever met, and it was a privilege to learn from her. @elmalayheehoo thank you for everything you do 💓 I will hold this weekend and these beautiful creative artists in my heart forever and I can't wait to see what you all do next.
