Many of us grew up believing a workout only counted if we left drenched and depleted. Feeling exhausted isn’t the same as getting results.

Back in my 20s, I also believed that if I didn’t train until I couldn’t give more, I hadn’t done my best.

The good news is that it’s a misconception!

You don’t get fitter during your workout. Your body needs recovery to repair and adapt to get stronger.

As mentioned in the podcast, exercise is a stress we choose on purpose. The workout provides the stimulus. What happens afterward, when your body recovers and adapts, is where the changes happen.

✨ More intensity isn’t always more stimulus.✨

Dr. Stacy Sims talks about the importance of creating an adaptive stimulus: going hard enough to give your body a reason to change, then recovering enough to do it again properly.

The problem isn’t HIIT. It’s when every workout becomes moderately hard.

Too hard to be recovery. Not hard enough to create the adaptation you’re actually looking for.

You end up feeling exhausted without necessarily getting more from your training.

So when HIIT becomes a daily habit, you may not be giving your body enough recovery to adapt to that training.

You might feel like you’re working harder. But harder isn’t always better.

That’s why sessions like a good, slow reformer burn can do a lot when I change up my usual routine.

Here’s how I approach training in my 30’s:

→ Go hard when it’s a hard day.
→ Recover when it’s a recovery day *without feeling bad*!
→ Build strength and core control between the two. Try AbsFocus 👋🏻🔥

You don’t need to be exhausted every day to be getting fitter.

There are less than 90 days left before 2027. Use the rest of the year to try a new approach, so you can start 2027 with a strong habit already in place. 🤍

Comment “PREP” if you want a training and nutrition approach built for longevity: train around your cycle, build core strength, and support your body with anti-inflammatory nutrition.

Managed to steal a Missing Hour with some of our TMP ladies last week, trying out @labstudios._’s latest stretch reformer class. 🤍

What a lovely morning of much-needed stretches to wake up our bodies, good company and a chance to slow down before getting on with the rest of our day.

This is what I hoped for when creating TMP Movement: pieces you feel good in, and a little encouragement to make room for yourself amid everything else you do.

Restarting my fitness journey with @labstudios._ has been great, my favourite classes to go to. Thanks Kristen for the 2 classes today!

As a facilitator and business owner, we pour into others so often, which honestly means we need to pour into ourselves first - mind and body! 😤 Got to rebuild my guns, one muscle at a time. And it doesn’t hurt to do it with friends!

I’m making the most of this season before I head back to work settling into Singapore, exploring my neighbourhood, trying different studios, and enjoying this extra time with my kids.

I’m loving @labstudios._ at the moment. The vibe is amazing, the classes are challenging, and the teachers have been so welcoming. It’s quickly become one of my favourite places to reset.

It’s been a reminder that slowing down can be just as productive as speeding up. ✨
