A Morning Verse✨
Here I stand between the earth and sky
The center of the world am I
My right hand points to the cold north star
My left hand points to where the hot lands are
Behind my back is the rising sun
In front of me is where day is done
North, south, east and west
Where I am is the very best

So here are the July babies:

Greens in Season

Make your salad more eco-friendly — you only need to know what’s in season!

By choosing greens which are naturally in season, you not only reduce carbon footprint from transportation and refrigeration of goods, but also eat perfectly ripe produce which tastes better.
May and June green treats are:

💚 lettuce
💚 chard
💚 spinach
💚 arugula
💚 watercress

Which of them will you put in your salad today? Share your ideas in the comments 👇🏻

A Simple Summer Snack

Treat yourself with crunchy bites of pickled cucumbers — try this simple recipe.

Refrigerator Pickles 🥒 (for two pints)

👩🏻‍🍳 You’ll need:

2 pint-size canning jars
1 1/2 cups vinegar
1 1/2 cups water
1 tablespoon salt
1 pound of cucumbers — the thicker the skin, the crunchier they stay
1/2 teaspoons dill or coriander seeds (or both)
3 fresh dill springs
4 garlic cloves

Directions

1️⃣ Prepare the pickling brine:

Combine the vinegar, water and salt
Heat the mixture over high heat, until the salt is dissolved.
Transfer the brine to a clean jar and put it aside to cool down for 30 minutes.

2️⃣ Cut the cucumbers. Trim away the blossom ends and cut them into rounds or spears.

3️⃣ Add some flavor:
Clean the jars
Divide coriander or dill seeds, garlic cloves and fresh dill between the jars

4️⃣ Put the cucumbers into the jars. Pour the brine over the cucumbers so they are all covered.

5️⃣ Close the jars and put them in the fridge overnight. The pickles will last at least a week in the fridge but get less crisp as time goes on.

Our friend Lacy Arrowsmith (@lacy.arrowsmith) chooses an enamel bowl from our White Prep Set for cooking these crunchy things. You can heat the brine in this very bowl as it’s heat-proof up to 540 F.
