Did you know?

In the back of a lot of people’s minds is the word “DIVORCE” whenever a mention of Ante-nuptial Contracts is made?

This is totally the opposite. First of all, no one gets married to divorce!

ANC (not the Cupcake one, lol) is there so that you may protect each other’s assets when the time comes in the marriage. Think of this? Imagine losing all that you had because you kept all your eggs in one bag (joint estate)? This you don’t want to even hear about, trust us…

More than anything, we view this as protecting each other, making sure the future of your kids is taken care of too. There are so many advantages of marrying out of community of property (OCOP). It would take an entire class to talk about choosing a marriage regime that best suits your interests.

AGAIN, Did you know?

A lot of people find themselves already in marriages of In Community of Property (ICOP) because they think a marriage will only exist once they sign at Home Affairs?

This is so wrong…once the families meet to negotiate, do all those African things we do thinking we’re “preparing” for marriage, you are already married! That’s a Customary Marriage, and is legally existing.

Yes, how do you think our grandparents got married? They did not need to sign anything for their marriage to be valid. “Unfortunately” such marriages are rendered to be marriages ICOP.

BUT, don’t you worry, GOOD NEWS: You are able to convert your marriage regime from ICOP to OCOP no matter how long you’ve been married.

You just need us!

Your instructions, Our execution! ⚖️

Meet Mr Noah (on my right hand side) of Noah & Sons, and Mr Mketsi of M. Mketsi Attorneys. Both these sons of the soil are ones of my go-to people. In this field, I’ve managed to make contacts with also those that are more experienced than me so as to tackle and/or approach all legal issues from all possible angles.
I like how I can even show up at their offices unannounced, and they’ll give their time to hear me out.

I am grateful. 🙏 ⚖️

So, an invitation came, we honored same. More than anything, this one felt differently because out of all the public speaking Ms Gongo has done, this time around it was in her hometown, Libode. Nyandeni Local Municipality is having its annual beauty pageant, and Miss Gongo was there to speak to the girls.

Overwhelming as it felt, she broke the ice by first asking from the girls themselves what topics to touch on in her speech…one of them,Zinathi Qangule, suggested “Empowerment”.
Great! So the speech was already themed:
“WE, THE PEOPLE HAVE DONE SO MUCH, WITH SO LITTLE, FOR SO LONG, THAT TODAY WE QUALIFY TO DO ANYTHING WITH ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.”
The above is so relatable to her because she really comes from the dust, but she pulled through anyway.
It does not matter where one comes from, you might have been raised in one rondavel, you can still however make it if you are so determined to be there.

Basically, Ms Gongo reflected on her journey which she believes to be an inspiration to every girl child…

A lot was touched upon including, inter Alia, humility, kindness, respect, and the latter emphasized the former/ that you should never measure the level of respect you give to people based on what they are and how they look.

It was a good interaction with the finalists as at the end of it, there were questions Ms Gongo put on the floor_ they’ve tackled them quite well which was a test to check if they were really listening!

That, was the highlight of yesterday.

Meet the face behind P Gongo Incorporated. Mrs Phiwobuhle Gongo-Daniso is an admitted Attorney / Legal Practitioner of the High Court and accordingly has the right of appearance by virtue of having been enrolled in the Advanced Trial Advocacy Program that is usually offered by the Black Lawyers Association.
This then means all your matters are attended by her personally at first hand. She also works with the best counsels in town and outside.

This Libode-born studied her LLB degree at Walter Sisulu University, and further went for Practical Legal Training in East London. She has previously worked for two (2) Law Firms and, as such, has been exposed to various spheres of work/law.
