Freshman year in the books!!🩷

This year has been so eye opening for me. Throughout this academic year, I’ve gained new diagnoses, new friends, a new church, and a whole new outlook. Going into this school year, I’m not sure what I expected, but I know it wasn’t this! God has blessed me abundantly more than I ever could have imagined.

I have been blessed enough to have found a church that feels like home in my first year, which isn’t something everyone is lucky enough to say. WEMO has blessed me with friends, role models, and mentors that I cannot express enough gratitude for!

The friends that I have made this year have truly helped me grow into someone who I wouldn’t have recognized a year ago. I have been pushed to grow and challenged to thrive in ways I never have been before, and I love each of you so deeply!

With all this sappiness aside, I cannot wait for another year with you all, Go Jags‼️‼️

The scariest part of transferring in as a senior is trusting the Lord to give you community and thank you JESUS that I held fast to the promise that we are not made to be alone and trusted that the Lord would keep me and hold me tightly to himself and provide a community around me that would point me straight to the cross.

UM, truly I’m at a loss for words! Thank you for loving, embracing, and equipping me to continue to pursue what the Lord has for me next knowing that the legacy that this university has left me with has forever changed the person I am today.

To all, thank you for befriending a senior who only had two semesters left but you chose to love me anyway. That means more than you will ever know. I have gained so much wisdom through each of you. It is because of you that I am the friend, sister, and person I am today. All because I knew you. This is the hardest goodbye. Continue to love people boldly and loudly, be the most genuine versions of yourselves, and proclaim Christ name to all people! Thank you forever!

A quote that I have said all year and still will stand beside for the rest of my life is “if I only knew then what blessings the Lord had for me in the other side of obedience I would’ve been obedient quicker.” Transferring to UM last minute, full of fear and anxiety of what people would think of me or who would choose to walk away, but with full assurance that I was finally completely obeying what the Lord had for me was the best decision I ever made! TYJ for the prayers answered starting back in sophomore year of college.

Wow. These 4 years flew. But all I know is God made them count. He provided time and time again with community I didn’t deserve, finances I couldn’t believe, and training far beyond what I could conceive. UM has been the greatest four years of my life and I thank God for this university. Friends and family, thank you for all you have done to make these 4 years special. You are loved more than you’ll ever know. Trevor Hawthorne -Worship Leadership (Music Business)
